HONOR is finally launching its next flagship series – HONOR 20 series! There will be two models for the series, HONOR 20 and HONOR 20 Pro, both with quad-camera and one of the best specs in the market. We are lucky to be able to experience HONOR 20 beforehand, so here is our HONOR 20 review.
*Update: HONOR 20 will be available in Malaysia soon at only RM1,699.
Design and Display
Coming at 6.26 inches, HONOR 20 features a significantly bigger display area compared to those traditional 16:9 or 18:9 smartphones. The front-facing camera is integrated into a corner of the display, and the punch hole is the world’s smallest at only 4.5mm. The fingerprint sensor is also integrated into the power button, which it only takes 0.5s to unlock the phone.
Available in 2 colours – Sapphire Blue and Midnight Black, HONOR 20 comes with a dynamic holographic design and all-glass back panel. On the back, you will see the quad-camera that HONOR claims to be their most versatile and powerful camera ever. We will explain more about its quad-camera in the next section.
Camera
The rear camera of the HONOR 20 is the first ever to be powered by Quad Camera. The impressive camera comes in 16MP + 48MP + 2MP +2MP for the Super Wide Angle, Main camera, Depth Assist and Macro lens respectively. Taking crystal clear photos won’t be difficult at all, as it also applies AI-driven features to enhance photos at real-time.
With the AIS Super Night mode, HONOR 20 manages to take an ultra-clear night shot by combining several frames to assure a blur-free output. Meanwhile, the 48MP AI Quad Camera is having an extra 48MP AI Ultra Clarity mode too that allows you to capture still objects and scenery in good light with great clarity.
The 32MP AI selfie camera is pretty powerful as well, coming with the common selfie features such as AI enhancements, portrait mode and AR mode.
Performance
On the performance aspect, HONOR 20 undoubtedly features one of the best smartphone specifications in the market now. This includes the 7nm Kirin 980 AI Chipset with dual-NPU and GPU Turbo 3.0. The model we got to try out is the 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM variant.
For those who are new to GPU Turbo 3.0, it greatly optimizes system performance for ultimate gaming experience and lower power consumption. It supports a total of 25 popular games now, which the newly added ones include Fortnite, Knives Out, Dragon Nest M, Dragon Ball Legends, Subway Surfers, Brawl Stars, FIFA Mobile and Free Fire.
Gaming on HONOR 20 is a pleasant experience, we haven’t encountered any lagging or disconnecting issues during our gaming sessions in PUBG Mobile, Brawl Stars and Dragon Ball Legends. Running these games at its highest graphics settings isn’t a problem at all. However, the phone heats up significantly after a prolonged period of gaming, probably due to its all-glass back panel design.
A good battery is important to enjoy hours of undisturbed gaming, and HONOR 20 doesn’t disappoint. It comes with a 3,750mAh battery that lasts a few hours of intense gaming at ease. Even if it runs out of battery, you can get back to action with just about one hour of recharging thanks to its 22.5W HONOR SuperCharge feature.
Verdict
So far it is hard to point out any serious issue on HONOR 20 (other than the heating issue) so we could say it is an overall great smartphone. Most importantly, you get a Quad-Camera and powerful specifications such as Kirin 980 and GPU Turbo on HONOR 20. These features certainly worth its price!
HONOR 20 is one of the latest smartphones that you should really consider if you are looking for a new phone. For more information about the phone, you can visit the official website or Facebook.
