Hololive has had an amazing 2021 financially, with statistics site Playboard publishing the earnings of the Vtubers for 2021. The top Vtubers collectively earned more than 5.7 million USD from YouTube’s Super Chat feature.
According to the site, Hololive absolutely dominated the Vtuber category in 2021, with 9 of the top 10 most-super chatted Vtubers all hailing from the company.
The most super chatted Vtuber is HoloFantasy’s Uruha Rushia, who closed the year with more than 1.687 million USD. She’s followed up by the now-retired Kiryu Coco, just behind her at 1.489 million USD.
While the two Vtubers are the only ones to report more than a million USD in earnings in 2021, the other three aren’t far behind- Hololive’s Yukihana Lamy, Usada Pekora and Amane Kanata all bring up the rear, with over 900,000 USD in earnings each.
While the Japanese Vtubers dominated the top 5 of the earnings, that’s not to say that EN was too far off- Hololive EN’s Takanashi Kiara is the most-super chatted Vtuber from the English branch, having earned more than 720,000 USD in super chat revenue and placing 8th on the chart.
Similarly, another good takeaway would be the disparity between subscriber count and actual revenue- most-subscribed Vtuber Gawr Gura sits at 11th place, with 600,000 USD.
What Are The Most Popular Streams?
Thanks to Playboard, we can also see which streams specifically brough on the flurry of super chats for all these Vtubers. From the chart, most of the vtubers have a pretty obvious trend of big events drawing in super chats, most notably birthday streams.
The rankings also prominently feature other events such as anniversary streams and birthdays, with many audience members throwing in super chats to celebrate the occasion.
This of course is just raw income from the Super Chats, with no mention of Hololive’s cut, as well as the overhead costs such as producing the various new models and 3d live shows.
