Hololive has announced a new collaboration with mascot factory Sanrio, pairing iconic characters like Hello Kitty with the popular Japanese Vtubers.
According to Twitter, this collaboration will be in the form of various merchandise, though the exact nature of what would be sold hasn’t been revealed yet.
It won’t be long before we do, though, since they’ve announced the merch would be for sale starting 8th of July.
It’s also unclear if the merch would only be available online or if they’d be opening a Hololive Sanrio pop up store, though we’ll be sure to update this article with more information once they clarify which.
They have, however, released key art for the collaboration, pairing up a huge selection of Vtubers with Sanrio mascots, ranging all the currently active Vtubers from the 0th Generation up to the 4th Generation, including the Gamers group.
It should be noted that it’s not exactly one Vtuber per Sanrio character, since multiple Vtubers can be seen posing with more popular characters like Cinnamoroll and Hello Kitty.
Considering the popularity of both brands in Japan, it’s unsurprising that they’d collaborate- and given the noticeable lack of newer generations like Gen 5 and Gen 6, it’s safe to assume that there’s a good chance of a second wave coming in the future.
