Cover Corporation is reportedly working on a Hololive game, following recently-reposted job listings by CEO Motoaki Tanigo following the release of a new trailer for Hololive Alternative.
According to the listing, the Hololive Game is being referred to as a Metaverse, where players can go online using their own 2D avatars, similar to those used by Hololive’s Vtuber talents.
“Through the operation of Hololive Productions, I have felt the potential of 2D characters to transcend borders and age. I would like to use the knowledge I have gained so far to develop a service that allows anyone to live online as a two-dimensional character”, Tanigo writes.
Making A Hololive Social Experience
Rather than doing raid bosses, however, it sounds like Tanigo’s idea is more akin to VR Chat, which acts as more of a social hub than a game per se. Tanigo says the Metaverse will also be a venue for fans of the virtual idols to watch them perform.
“In the so-called metaverse, we are thinking of virtual live performances and online games in which Hololive’s own talents perform.”
In the announcement, he also called for an Art Director as well as an Engineer to work on the metaverse project, which means that the project is still very much in its early stages. They’d also posted a second listing on Wantedly, with what appears to be an early development screenshot of a game.
While the listing was originally posted in January, Tanigo appears to have reposted it following the reveal of the full teaser for the ambitious new Hololive Alternative project.
