Last night, COVER Corporation dropped our first look at gameplay for HoloEarth , the upcoming Hololive MMO.
In a special pre-recorded video, Vtubers Shirakami Fubuki, Ookami Mio and producer “A-Chan” did a 1-hour preview for the game, letting fans understand more of what HoloEarth is supposed to be.
Most surprisingly, it turns out from the gameplay that HoloEarth is actually a survival game a la Ark: Survival Evolved, where players will need to gather materials from the world by punching trees, animals and rocks.
You’ll also have a thirst and hunger meter, on top of your health which you’ll need to maintain if you don’t want to lose all your items on death.
You’ll also be able to build structures with a fairly open system, where you can place walls and the like so you can make your structures with some degree of freedom.
The game also features a fairly simple combat system, against enemies like local wildlife as well as an enemy race that drops crafting materials when killed.
Characters
They didn’t show any kind of character creation menu, since all the models used were the official ones for Fubuki, Mio and even A-Chan. They’ve previously mentioned that they intend to have a more open avatar creation system, so in the final build of the game you won’t have to worry about 200 default Fubuki running around.
One thing they did show however was the emote menu, which features animated dancing emotes as well as static poses to be used with the game’s photo mode.
More To Come
The producer for the program (dubbed Producer U) stressed that this was an extremely early build of the game, and was just meant to show the basics of the game.
“The prototype you saw today contained only the bare minimum functionality required to be playable”, the note reads. They went on to say that the purpose of showing the game this early was to collect more feedback both from the talents of Hololive as well as the fans reacting to the gameplay video.
