Kuro Games has just announced the technical test for their upcoming open-world RPG game, Wuthering Waves, and while the details aren’t finalised, here’s what we know about the gameplay
Riding the Waves
While there is already a 1 minute gameplay trailer that was shown by the official Wuthering Waves twitter account, there are some additional information that we can garner up from various sources available in regards to the gameplay.
Considering Wunthering Waves is developed by the same people who did Punishing Gray Raven, it’s safe to say that the combat system will be smooth and fluid.
According to Cha0tik’s video, along with the usual chain attack combo, the dodging and parrying mechanic in the game will play a vital part in the combat system.
While we have no official clarification, it looks like an invincible dodge, and the fact there is a visual indicator when you perfectly dodge an enemy’s attack, we might be able to gain benefits from perfect dodging. Since there is a similar mechanic in Punishing Gray Raven.
It is interesting to note how Wuthering Waves will focus on the dodging and parrying mechanics, despite being a mobile game, as these mechanics tend to be challenging due to button layout.
But given their track record with developing Punishing Gray Raven and how they are able to smoothly incorporate the dodging mechanic, it is safe to say that we won’t need to be worried about that aspect.

In the character showcase video, from characters who wield swords, focusing on close quarter combat, to gunslingers who like to poke and prod enemies from a distance , to even summoners who rely on their summons to deal damage, each of the characters in Wuthering Waves play differently from one another.
At a certain part of the story shown in this 30 minute gameplay showcase, it also seems that Wuthering Waves will have a pretty complex character system where players can play around with their character’s skills and abilities.
From the screenshot above, players are able to combine different elements for skills that relate to the specific element that was used in the skill combination.
The first skill describes the ability of an AOE attack that reduces the enemy’s fire element resistance by 40% by 3 seconds, the skill uses the Light and Fire element.
The second skill describes the ability to reduce the enemy’s light element resistance by 30% by 10 seconds, the skill uses the Dark and Light element.
The third skill describes the ability to reduce the enemy’s wind element resistance by 30% by 10 seconds, the skill uses Dark and Wind element.
