Sunblink has announced that Hello Kitty Island Adventure will launch on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam on January 30, bringing the successful Apple Arcade title to new platforms. PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 versions are scheduled to follow later in 2025.
The open-world adventure game, which originally debuted on Apple Arcade in July 2023, has already garnered significant recognition, including a nomination for Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards 2023, a Webby People’s Voice award, and Apple Arcade Game of the Year.
Players join Hello Kitty and friends at Big Adventures Park, where they work to restore an abandoned theme park across various biomes including Spooky Swamp, Mount Hothead, and Rainbow Reef. The game offers over 100 hours of gameplay with features such as character customization, furniture decoration, and multiplayer functionality that allows friends to visit each other’s islands.
Notable aspects include the absence of microtransactions and the promise of regular free content updates. Players can engage in various activities like baking with Hello Kitty, brewing potions with Kuromi, and fishing with Badtz-maru while collecting hidden items and solving puzzles throughout the island. Sunblink CEO Julian Farrior emphasized the game’s focus on friendship and kindness, while Sanrio COO Craig Takiguchi noted that the expansion of Hello Kitty Island Adventure to the Switch and PC aligns with Hello Kitty’s 50-year legacy of connecting generations through positivity.
The game features extensive customization options, allowing players to create their own Sanrio-style avatar with numerous clothing options and decorative elements for their island space. Multiplayer features enable friends to boost each other’s abilities, tackle puzzles together, and build vacation homes collaboratively.
