Details for the Mercenaries game mode in Hearthstone have finally been unveiled. The Mercenaries game mode was initially revealed at BlizzConline as part of the Year of the Gryphon plans, dubbing it a roguelike mode within Hearthstone, which itself is housing a variety of game modes besides the original card game. A cinematic trailer can be found below:
Slated for release on 12 October, the official website outlines some of the details for Mercenaries. Take on procedurally-generated Bounties, starting from your Village, a central hub for your collection. You can build buildings and upgrade them to unlock more content and increase their effectiveness in the Village hub. Choose which Bounty you’d like to tackle, important for levelling Mercenaries. Bounties have suggested levels and a designated boss at the end. You’ll gradually unlock more difficulty levels too.
Bounties are tackled with a Party of 6 Mercenaries, with 3 fighting at any one time and being replaced if one falls or is swapped out. They will earn experience as long as they’re in the Party. Bounties have different loot, so you can continuously farm one if you so wish. The Fighting Pit is the PVP aspect. 8 Mercs will be available for free after the prologue, with purchasable bundles to acquire Diablo, Lich King and Sylvanas.
Players are concerned about methods to acquire more Mercenaries and currency obtainable, so one supposes more clarification will be required soon.
