Hatsune Miku Colorful Stage, the EN release for Project Sekai Colorful Stage was announced today, bringing the vocaloid mobile game to western audiences.
As part of the celebrations for Hatsune Miku’s birthday, they announced the game’s release, but would not specify an exact release date, or if it would only be limited to any one region like the US or EU.
Interestingly enough for the EN release they seem to have dropped the Project Sekai title, instead opting to use Miku’s name, probably for better brand recognition.
Like other mobile rhythm games, Colorful Stage will feature a variety of vocaloid characters for you to collect, not just limited to the iconic Hatsune Miku herself. You’ll also have a host of original characters to collect as well.
It’s most unique feature, however, is the Virtual Lives. These allow you to group up with 15 other players, watching live performances together as if you were at a real concert, interacting with each other via stickers.
You can also customize your avatar, with all the idol fan staples like gestures as well as customizable glowsticks to really show up for your Oshi.
Gameplay wise, it looks like Colorful Stage will be using a pretty standard layout for its rhythm games, instead of a UI more similar to the Project Diva games. It doesn’t look as hectic as other rhythm titles like D4DJ either, so even casual fans will be able to enjoy it.
