Since the announcement, Niantic has been silent regarding their new project, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. Now, Niantic has decided it is time to reveal something on their latest game.
Niantic released a short teaser of the game that shows a woman catching a golden snitch (similar to how Quidditch works). A poster is shown in the trailer as well, warning that the Wizarding world is in danger of exposure.
Fans can sign up for the game now at the official site. Unfortunately, no information on a beta test exists at the moment hence the sign up may look suspicious. On the bright side, the website provides clarification on the game’s setting. The website states:
“Please resist the urge to panic. Traces of magic are appearing across the Muggle world without warning and in a rather chaotic manner. We worry it is only a matter of time before even the most incurious Muggles catch wind of it. We call on all witches and wizards to help contain the Calamity or risk the worst of times since You Know Who. Brush up on your spells, get your wand ready, and enlist immediately.”
Judging from the statement, the primary objective of players is to prevent magic from leaking out to the Muggle world. Not much else is known about the game.
At the moment, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will unlikely be released in late 2018 as previously announced. For more info, you can check out the official website.
