Harry Potter: Magic Awakened has announced an open beta to commence on 29 May in China. We previously reported on the mobile title that was announced in October 2019, with some sneak peeks shown off in December of the same year.
This newly announced open beta for Harry Potter: Magic Awakened seems to be a larger scale test, though currently the game is still only available for China with no word of a westward release. From the various peeks of gameplay, this newest title for the Wizarding World is a card-based RPG that will also implement tap and shake mechanics.
It may be more story-driven, with the muggle-born player receiving their acceptance letter from the one and only, Rubeus Hagrid. Make your way into this magical world, from shopping in Diagon Alley to accessing Platform 9 3/4 and of course, the house sorting. Besides the whole mana bar system to cast your spells (cards), there will be free-flying sequences on your broom over the school.
While it is card-based, the battles still do occur in real time. There will be gacha mechanics to obtain new cards. With the open beta, available for both iOS and Android, it could be possible the game will be seeing a full launch sometime this year. Registrations can be done via the official website.
