In today’s Xbox Games Showcase Extended, 343 Industries explained in more detail some of the new features coming to Halo Infinite multiplayer.
The announcer for the game is a character named Commander Laurette, who is in charge of the Spartan Academy. Spartan Academy is the game’s multiplayer mode, acting as the in-universe justification for all the Spartan-on-Spartan violence you’ll be seeing.
Many classic features will be returning, such as the Sandbox style gameplay with items spawning on the map, complete with respawn timers for when hey’ll show up again.
Players will have their own A.I similar to Cortana in the Halo campaign. You’ll be able to customize these with different voice options, and the developers say this is part of helping you personalize your Spartan.
Big Team Battles are coming to Halo, bringing 12 v 12 fights into the game. The maps will have more of a focus on vehicles, and will feature Pelicans dropping off new vehicles to keep each team topped up.
The game will feature seasonal content, with armor being broken up into pieces that you can unlock. You’ve already seen one of the first seasonal armors- the Samurai-styled Spartan armor in the trailer. You won’t have to pay to get these, and they will be unlockable through gameplay.
Halo Infinite is the next chapter of the Halo series, featuring PC support at launch and a free-to-play multiplayer portion. No release date has been given yet, though Xbox says the game will launch on Xbox Series X and PC in Holiday season 2021.
