After Capcom was hit by a major data breach in which 1TB of information was held for ransom, it seems as though the hacker group has started to leak the encrypted content. According to a post on ResetEra, the hackers have begun leaking the information via anonymous messaging board 4Chan including news of a Monster Hunter Rise PC Port.
As information stolen from Capcom, not much other information was given regarding the PC release, other than the confirmation of its existence.
All we have to go off of is screenshots of a calendar, saying the PC port of Rise is scheduled for October, 2021
.
Capcom themselves have not confirmed nor denied the leaks, which follow news of other games like Ace Attorney getting a physical collection and more information regarding Resident Evil Village.
Capcom had previously released a statement on the data breach, after the company’s files were encrypted by a ransomware attack. While no customer data was compromised, many sensitive documents such as employee personal information were not so lucky.
“Presently, Capcom is consulting with the police as well as other related authorities while both carrying out an investigation and taking measures to restore its systems. The company will continue to offer relevant updates as the facts become clear, via its websites and other means”, they said.
As a gaming news site, it is incredibly contentious to report on leaks such as this. GamerBraves does not condone ransomware attacks, and we hope that all the Capcom staff come out of this whole ordeal unharmed.
