Sunrise has announced Mobile Suit Gundam Requiem For Vengeance, an upcoming CGI anime returning to the Universal Century timeline.
In a closed-door trailer reported via Anime News Network at Anime Expo, it’s shown that Gundam Requiem For Vengeance will be set in UC0079- AKA within the same year as the original Mobile Suit Gundam.
ANN says Requiem will be a multi-episode series, with the entire show produced in Unreal Engine 5.
The teaser gives us a glimpse at a Zeon pilot, as well as the interior of a Zaku and the iconic mono eye itself.
While the overall plot remains under wraps, this looks like it’s going to be the next Gundam series to feature a female lead- Cecelia Massingham was introduced as having both voiced and done motion capture for said character.
It’s being directed by Erasmus Brosdau, best known for his Warhammer 40K fan animation The Lord Inquisitor: Seeds Of Ambition, with Gavin Hignight from Tekken: Bloodlines writing.
In a brodcast by Brosdau, he confirmed that the series would be told more from Zeon’s perspective- though didn’t elaborate more on the story.
Meanwhile, Hignight shared that he drew inspiration from 08th MS Team and Gundam Thunderbolt– series both known for their grittier take on the iconic mecha franchise.
Requiem will also be produced by Naohiro Ogata, who produced the recently-concluded Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury as well as Gundam Thunderbolt.
