Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans mobile game Urdr Hunt has announced its end of service, after just under a year of being online.
In a statement on the game’s website today, they confirmed that the title would be closing its doors on January 11th 2024.
“We are very happy to inform you that this application has been played by many of you since its launch. We would like to announce that the service will be terminated on January 11, 2024. Thank all of you for your patronage of this application”, the translated statement reads.
According to Appmagic, Urdr Hunt made a grand total of 4.9 million USD since its launch- a fairly impressive amount considering the game’s very limited release.
That being said, it does fall short when compared to its closest competitor- Gundam UC Engage, whose Japanese version had made 18 million USD in the same timeframe, all without the boost of being a new game.
However it looks like the majority of that was in the game’s launch period, with the title having only made little over 1 million USD in the past 6 months.
For comparison, Gundam UC Engage’s JP version had a total of 8 million USD in that period.
The end of service announcement for Urdr Hunt comes as a particularly large blow to the western community- unlike fellow Gundam mobile game UC Engage, Urdr Hunt never got an English release.
The title has gained popularity in the Iron-Blooded Orphans fandom for its expansion of the series canon- touching on the various Gundam Frames of the Calamity War, with many even getting their own model kits.
