Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced a console network test for Gundam Evolution, the upcoming Gundam-themed hero shooter releasing some time this year.
The network test will run from June 23rd to June 28th, and will allow players in the US, Canada and Japan on PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Series X|S to try out the game ahead of its release date, which is still slated for some time in 2022.
You can sign up for access now via the Gundam Evolution website, and there will be two waves of applications with a lottery being held if there are too many applications.
The Console Network Test was the only major news for Gundam Evolution at today’s Gundam Fest livestream, with no new trailers or a solid release date being given for the game despite its looming deadline for release.
The game is a 6v6 hero shooter, modeled closely after Overwatch with three game types, as well as classes based on various mobile suits from across the Gundam multiverse.
The game will be free to play at launch, but will also contain in-game purchases, though the exact nature of how they’d work has not been revealed yet.
What is known is that unlike Overwatch the full roster of mobile suits will not be unlocked at the start, as players will need to unlock additional suits with an in-game resource.
