Get ready for a Gundam-themed celebration of Canal City Hakata’s 25th anniversary with Gundam Docks at Fukuoka, an event that brings the world of giant robots closer to reality.
The event starts April 24th, and runs until May 30th. One of the big features of the event is a giant panorama titled Gundam Scramble in Fukuoka, which shows a display of what the Canal City would look like if it was besieged by giant robots. According to the Bandai Hobby News site the screen is 2500 inches in height (over 208 feet), and will show various giant robots duking it out against the vistas of the city. The panorama display starts after 7pm.
There’ll also be a concert by Hiroko Moriguchi on the 24th of April, who will perform the opening to Mobil Suit Z Gundam, as well as other popular songs by the artist. Seating for the event is limited, and you can apply for it here.
Aside from that, there’ll be other Gundam-themed events at Gundam Docks at Fukuoka, such as a stamp rally featuring stamps with famous lines from Gundam characters in the Hakata dialect. This will be held near the entrance of the Gundam Base Fukuoka, along with a Ticket Stub event to promote the upcoming release of Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway.
Events like the concert with Hiroko Moriguchi will only be available to a limited number of people, to help reduce transmission of the yet-unending Covid-19 pandemic.
