The original Gundam Bonds of the Battlefield (lit. Senjo no Kizuna) is ending service, presumably being replaced by its newly launched sequel.
According to the Gundam Bonds of the Battlefield website, the game will end its online services on November 30th, 2021.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patronage over the past 15 years, and for all of your feedback and requests. We look forward to your continued support of Mobile Warfare Gundam Senjo no Kizuna II and Senjo no Kizuna II Mobile as well”, the statement on the website reads.
The game provided a unique Gundam experience, taking place inside of a pod that mimicked the cockpits seen in the Mobile Suit Gundam universe. It also featured save progression, by saving data from your matches on your BanaPassport and allowing you to unlock more advanced mobile suits like the Gouf Custom, or Char’s Zaku.
The game was also supported via updates, such as limited time events like the Blue Destiny event which saw the addition of units with the EXAM system, such as the Blue Destiny and Efreet Custom.
It wasn’t all pulling from Gundam’s Universal Century, either, as the game also saw collaborations with the Build Fighters series, adding units like the Build Gundam and Kampfer Amazing.
While the game was primarily made for a Japanese release, it also saw a release in Malaysia as well, with multiple arcades sporting the white pods.
