Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced Gundam Battle Operation Code Fairy , a new console game set in the Mobile Suit Gundam universe.
They’ve only put out a short animated teaser for the game, so there’s not much official information available right now other than its planned launch for PS4 and PS5.
UPDATE: Read more about the characters, release date and gameplay
Despite using the Gundam Battle Operation name, it’s hard to tell if Code Fairy will share the same gameplay as Battle Operation 2, which is more of a team-based shooter. For one, the new character, Alma Stirner, is clearly wearing a Zeon uniform, and the game’s logo has a Zeon logo in it as well.
That would place it as a game more squarely occurring in the UC Gundam timeline, which is the setting for most of the iconic Gundam anime such as Gundam Unicorn, as well as the recent Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway.
Meanwhile in Battle Operation 2, the characters are all mercenaries with no factions, to justify letting players use mobile suits from any faction together.
This adds to the growing list of in-development Gundam titles- such as the upcoming free-to-play shooter Gundam Evolution, as well as Super Robot Wars 30, which features multiple characters from the Gundam universe such as Amuro Ray and Char Aznable.
