Arc System Works has announced the release date of the Rollback update for Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator, improving the game’s netplay infrastructure.
In a tweet, they confirmed that Rollback netcode would be release in Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator on January 20th, 2022.
“The rollback netcode will reduce delays during online battles, allowing players to enjoy more comfortable online battles than ever before, even with players in remote areas”, they said in a statement on their website.
It should be noted that rollback netcode will apply to the two latest versions of the Guilty Gear Xrd series- Revelator and Rev 2.
The netcode update was first announced at CEOtaku last year, where the game saw a huge spike in players following the game’s open beta in October.
This comes at an opportune time for Guilty Gear players as well- with Strive currently under attack from a hacker, rolling out an update for the older title gives popular streamers another Guilty Gear title to paly.
The Xrd Revelator games are the latest in Arc System Works’ push to retrofit their older games with rollback netcode- aiming to improve stability of online matches even over long distances.
It started with Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R, and has continued on with other titles such as Blazblue CentralFiction, Blazblue Cross Tag Battle and is coming soon for Dragon Ball FighterZ.
