ArenaNet has indefinitely postponed the Steam release of its popular MMO Guild Wars 2. They revealed the news via an update on their website.
According to ArenaNet, the delay was to allow more resources to focus on the game’s next expansion, End of Dragons.
“… we’ve made the decision to put the Guild Wars 2 Steam release on hold for the time being. Our number one priority right now is crafting Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons with the high quality you expect and deserve. Additionally, we’re full speed ahead on delivering an epic climax to The Icebrood Saga that lives up to (and we hope exceeds) previous Living World finales.”
Meanwhile the next trailer for the game’s Living Story, The Icebrood Saga, is slated for a November 5th release date.
The game’s steam release was originally going to be in November of 2020. With no new release date in sight, it’s safe to assume that there won’t be any news on the Steam release for a while.
End of Dragons is the game’s third major expansion, after Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire. While the base game is free-to-play, these expansions are paid.
End of Dragons is scheduled for release some time next year, though with no concrete date. Fans looking to get into this long-running MMO can do so via the game’s own launcher.
