With the release of Solo Leveling: Arise, we have prepared a tier list of Characters in the game to help decide what to pull or prioritize building.
As we mentioned in our player weapon guide, most of the game is played with only Sung Jiwoo as a playable character. However, these characters can be used to support him from the sidelines and are even playable in mining modes, with warrants their utility to the “solo” team.
Do note that the game does have an elemental system where certain types of damage are more effective on specific enemies. As such, different characters may perform differently depending on the current composition and scenario.
The criteria for each ranking are as follows:
- S Tier – These characters are some of the best in the game, and generally excel at fulfilling their role in most scenarios and are highly recommended to build.
- A Tier – Excellent batch of characters, only falling slightly behind the S-tier units, and can play well in most content.
- B Tier – Still worth the investment and can be pretty solid in certain teams or circumstances.
- C Tier – Situational. May not be worth the investment due to limited usage.
Without further ado, here is the tier list and the justifications for why the characters are ranked in their placements.
Fighters | |
S | |
Cha Hae-In |
As usual, the day 1 featured character is dominating the entire meta at the moment. Hae-In is a crit monster that can be relied on for most content you bring her to. |
Baek Yonhoo [Silver Mane] | His kit looks exactly like his berserker-esque appearance, with his damage scaling according to how low his hp is. Non-boss enemies also take a hefty amount of bleed from him. |
A | |
Hwang Dongsoo | A specialist at removing enemy shields, but has numbers to warrant bringing him along to most other forms of content too. |
B | |
Park Beom-Shik | His skills are pretty decent (with a surprising Defense scaling), but sadly doesn't stand out from the rest of the characters in the game. If you don't have any good characters, he's still usable, but get ready to swap him out as soon as you get someone better. |
Tanks | |
S | |
Seo Jiwoo | She's not even from the original manhua yet she's one of the top characters in the game. Able to break enemies and provide shields, she packs a punch both offensively and defensively. |
Emma Laurent | Emma is one of the best all-rounders currently in the game, with her ability to damage, break and even support. She shines best in Fire teams, but also works wonderfully with anyone else thanks to her Defense Penetration buffs. |
Baek YoonHo | Even when he's not moonlighting as a furry, he still extremely powerful, with almost all his skills doing break damage. Just like Beom-Shik, his abilities scale off defense, but he does it better by simply being an actual tank. |
A | |
Woo Jinchul | He doesn't do a lot of damage compared to other SSR characters, but makes up for it by being a dodge tank. As usual, this means he's better off in the hands of skilled players. |
Hwang Dongsuk | Dongsuk is a surprisingly good breaker who can be used for most content. He also can increase his own max HP by up to 30%, which is a great thing since al most of his damage scales off his max HP. |
Kim Chul | He's what you would normally think of when the term "tank" comes to mind. Providing damage reduction buffs and shields, he can carry you through some surprisingly hard content. |
B | |
Yoo Jinho | If the gacha does not favor you, fret not, for Jinho is a decent breaker for most content, on top a small amount of healing. |
C | |
Kim Sangshik | Bro really put on a singular arm guard and called it a day, no wonder he's the worst tank at the moment. Everyone else on this list can do what he can but significantly better. |
Mages | |
S | |
Choi Jong-In | Don't let his inability to crit fool you, he has one of the best DPS in the game. Not only does he like juggling enemies like paper airplanes, he also likes setting them on fire. A lot. Let's hope he keeps his sights within Korea and nowhere else... |
A | |
Lee Bora | Those are not cat ears, that's a ribbon! That aside, she's really good at doing damage while debuffing the enemy, making her a good option for most of the game. She's also one of the only characters at the moment who can cleanse debuffs, which can come in clutch in specific scenarios. |
Park Heejin | Heejin is a phenomenal SR unit with a lot of utility, including cleansing debuffs and increasing the damage of Ultimates. |
B | |
Song Chiyul | Chiyul specializes again normal monsters, and struggles somewhat with bosses. Just like Jinho, he's still decently usable if you don't have anyone better. |
C | |
Jo Kyuhwan | Despite his bonus to burning targets, Kyuhwan's not exactly a shining beacon of damage or support. |
Assassins | |
S | |
Kang Taeshik | Kang Taeshik is a simple man who does his simple job with deadly efficiency. He doesn't have a lot of gimmicks, but his skills come with monstrous multipliers. |
A | |
Han Song-Yi | She throws weapons all over the place and poisons enemies hit by them. She also deals extrra damage to enemies hurt this way. In short, she's fun but lacks in overall damage. |
Rangers | |
S | |
Lim Tae-Gyu | Tae-Gyu's greatest strength is his ultimate, where he can do extremely high amounts of damage... provided you can aim 8 times in a row. |
Nam Chae-Young | A surprisingly good breaker, made better by the fact that there are not many Water breakers in the game yet. Her special skills also grant a lot of freezes to the enemy, opening up more opportunities for risk-free damage. |
A | |
Anna Ruiz | Poison, poison, and more poison. If you like poison, you will like her. |
Healers | |
S | |
Min Byung-Gu | Every good healer knows the best healing goes both ways, healing and supporting your allies while debuffing and providing negative healing to your enemies. Even of you're not considering his healing, his sheer utility makes a strong case for including him in your team. |
A | |
Lee Joohee | Remember what I just said about good healing? Joohee took the wrong message and decided to focus too much on healing and not enough on damage. |
Hopefully, this tier list can help you plan ahead efficiently on which characters to spend resources on or who to target when pulling. However, as with any gacha game, we recommend you invest based on your own preferences rather than blindly following the meta.
