Demon fusions are one of the core mechanics in Shin Megami Tensei V but it is also one of the most complex aspects of the game but it can be made easier with the use of element fusion.
When creating the perfect demons for your end game army one of the hardest aspects can be transferring all the skills you need to a specific demon. If you want certain skills on higher-level demons, figuring out the ‘fusion tree’ to get all the skills on to them can be tough. That’s where the elements come in.
While you’re at it, feel free to check out our review of SMTV and other guides:

Using The Elements
Aqua, Erthys, Flaemis, and Aeros. These are the four ‘element demons’ in Shin Megami Tensei V. You can fuse them by fusing two demons of the same race together like fusing Fairy Jack Frost with Fairy Pixie.
The Elements in Shin Megami Tensei V on their own aren’t very strong however fusing one with a demon of the correct race can rank that demon to the next highest level demon in their race. For example, If you were to fuse Andras level (18) with an element you’d get the next demon in the fallen race, Berith(level 24).
Ranking your demons up or down can help with quickly transferring valuable skills. All you have to do is compile all the skills you want onto a demon. Turn them into an element and then fuse them with a demon of a certain race to rank it up or down. And there you have it, a better demon with better skills. With the right miracles, it could even get far better stats from the fusion.
Demon Fusion
Here’s a chart of the demons of each race in SMTV and what you need to fuse them:
It should be noted that any element that does not rank positively for a race of demons, will instead rank negatively.
There are also special fusions for certain demons which require more than two demons to fuse them. You cannot rank up a demon to obtain them however special fusion demons themselves can be fused with elements to obtain a higher or lower ranked demon of their race.
