The NieR: Automata collab has passed, meaning that it’s time for Punishing Gray Raven to proceed with its next event, Echo Aria. As usual, we’ll offer a rundown and some tips on how to tackle this event.
Echo Aria will be ongoing in Punishing Gray Raven from 16th August 2022 – 15th September 2022.
Echo Aria Event Overview
Echo Aria brings with two new (but familiar) playable characters, Wanshi: Hypnos, an A-Rank support Construct, and Selena: Tempest, an S-Rank Transcendant/Compositer. Wanshi is the de facto pick as a healer for the ice team, whereas Selena is worth having to have a full team of 3 Transcendants (Camu, Qu and Selena).
Like any A-Rank Construct, you can easily pull for Wanshi by setting him as the target of your 10-pull. Alternatively, if you’re saving your Black Cards, you can always farm for his shards via the event, the choice is up to you. Note that it’s more efficient to pull for Wanshi, then spend the farmed shards to increase his rank.
As with previous events, there will be a new story chapter, Interludes for the new characters and other modes for completion and grinding purposes, the latter of which we’ll cover in more detail.
Event Stage – Gravel Echoes
Gravel Echoes is the grinding stage where you’ll be spending your excess serum. Ideally, you’ll want to focus more on modes like Norman Revival Plan as those are time-sensitive. Regardless, you’ll still need to empty your serum, ideally in Gravel Echoes.
Authority Levels also return as part of the event mechanic. Completing event stages will earn you experience that increases your Authority Level, which grants you various buffs.
You can choose to grind for Surface Samples, which is the event currency or Memories. Like most events, farming for the event currency and buying Memories that you want from the event shop is more efficient.
Event Shop – Analysis Lab
The event shop this time around is called Analysis Lab. You’ll want to farm for Wanshi shards. As for the Memories, you have the option of:
- Catherine
- Philip II
- Frederick
- Zu Wenyuan
- Patton
- Bathlon
- Einsteina
- Hanna
- Heisen
- Shakespeare
- Koya
- Darwin
- Cottie
- Da Vinci
- Leeuwenhoek
- Wu’an
- Flamel
In addition, you can also get Lucrezia, which is the new Memory set for Selena.
Once you get all the Memories you want, spend your excess Surface Samples on the resources that you need such as Cogs and other materials.
Other Content
This section will touch on the other modes and content that will be part of Echo Aria.
The big addition to the game are CUBs aka pets. They have their own stats and skills and aid your team in combat. You’ll need to level them and upgrade them the same way you would characters, weapons and Memories. The resources to enhance them can be obtained from the various modes in the event and the event shop. CUBs are only available for Commandants level 80 and above.
Norman Revival Plan, or Norman War as it’s called by the community, is also a new addition to the game. The goal of this mode is to obtain Tantalum Ores and Autonomous Miners, the latter of which boosts and produce Tantalum Ores. While you have 14 days to clear Norman War before it refreshes, ideally, you’ll want to clear it as fast as possible (3 days is the fastest) so that you have the most Tantalum Ores to exchange for rewards.
Babel Tower is also back, this time called Morgana Sicily. You can get resources for CUBs here, so be sure to complete it.
On September 1st, players will gain access to Restrain Simulation. Clear this mode to gain 6★ memory shards, and various resources.
A new minigame, Fist of the Overlord, will also be added on September 9th for general rewards and completion sake.
