Talismans are yet another thing you would want to farm in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. It’s pretty much the only way for Riders to get more abilities besides armors, giving up to two more abilities. You can potentially hit on an extremely synergistic build, which can give you even more of an edge in PVP. If you’re not up for the talismans farm competitively, it still will be useful in whatever PVE you do in Monster Hunter Stories 2.

BASICS
Talismans are your way to make up for any weaknesses in an armor set, or to further bolster your strengths. Armors can only have 3 abilities maximum. Talismans can provide up to 2 more passives, some of which may be active on the field.
Let’s say you have a Bloodhorn’s Armor, which grants Evasion L, Non-Elemental Attack Boost XL and Tenacity. You could complement it with a Talisman providing Self Heal XL for better survivability to start.
METHOD ONE
This one is the one you’re most likely familiar with:
- Activate Gathering Charms in the Prayer Pot to boost your rate of getting rate items
- Find Gold Mining Nodes
- Gather from Gold Mining Nodes for a chance to get a Talisman
You can find these Gold Mining Nodes pretty much at random in the wild, or in dens. The Lavina Mine Cave at the base of Mt. Lavina is one easy spot to find said nodes; simply walk in to gather what you can see, leave, and go back in again repeatedly. You can opt to do this if you want a lot of zenny from selling the trade-in items, as well as fulfilling repeatable quests for EXP.
METHOD TWO
Alternatively, you buy Talismans with Bottle Caps from Melynx Inc. Melynx Inc Talismans are guaranteed to be at a higher starting grade than mining nodes, so if you have the Bottle Caps to spare, this offers better odds for you to get something you want, like the nice combinations you see above. It’s recommended to have at least 300 Bottle Caps so that you can roll more in one go:
- Save your game before buying from Melynx Inc
- Start buying Talismans from the Rare Talisman Exchange
- If you get a Talisman you want, DON’T save yet
- Check how many purchases it took to get the Talismans you wanted
- Reset your game then buy the exact number needed to get your desired Talisman
- e.g. If you’ve bought 10 but you only wanted the fifth one, reset and buy only 5 when you load back in
This method can work as the Talismans are already fixed when you spawn in town. If you want to reset the Melynx Inc stock, you will need to travel to another town.
If you’re hard up on Bottle Caps, you can just do local co-op quests with or without AI with Normal Expedition Tickets as those can net you a lot. Once you’re done with getting the Monsties and skills you want, you won’t have much other use for Bottle Caps anyway.
When rolling for Talismans with Bottle Caps, you can make things a little easier with Auto-Save ON. Speak to the Catavan to drop a save, then start rolling, resetting as needed. Mahana Village has the relative shortest distance between the Catavan and Melynx Inc for quicker travel.
That’s all there is to the Talismans farm in Monster Hunter Stories 2. Feel free to check our other guides on the other aspects of the game:
