With the new update, fans have been introduced to the Lazurite Jewel in Monster Hunter Rise – rare items required to make the newly added decorations in the game. You’ll need these if you’ve got bad luck with getting a talisman for skills like Weakness Exploit, but they seem incredibly hard to farm.
Lazurite Jewel In Monster Hunter Rise
As we mentioned before, the Lazurite Jewel is the ticket to some of the best skills in Monster Hunter Rise. Worse still, they don’t come cheap, either. The Handicraft Jewel eats a whopping 8 Lazurite Jewels, which gets extra dicey once you realize how often they spawn.
Basically Lazurite Jewels have a random chance of being a reward for 8-star quests and above, although the amount you get is anywhere between zero and three. Considering how skills like Handicraft take 24 jewels if you wanted to get it to max level, it wouldn’t do you good to just blindly do quests hoping for good results .
Quests To Get More Lazurite Jewels
Thankfully, the game has made it so that some quests have a much higher turnout rate. We haven’t done enough testing to confirm, but it seems as though Apex Monsters always drop at least 1 Lazurite Jewel in the Quest Rewards. Better yet, they seem to scale up with the monster’s difficulty, with the harder Apex monsters dropping even 4 of the jewels.
While previously you might have thought that you need to do rampage quests for a chance to fight an Apex Monster, the 2.0 update also brought solo quests, letting you fight the monsters on their own, instead of going through the very time consuming Rampage Quests. You’ll have to first defeat the monster in their respective Rampage Quest to unlock the solo versions, though, so you won’t get to skip that entirely. It should be noted that not every Apex has a solo hunt yet, so monsters like Apex Rathalos and Apex Diablos can’t be hunted yet.
Apex Arzuros
As the easiest of the Apex fights, Arzuros is a good low-commitment bet to get Lazurite Jewels. Our own research has shown the monster always drops at least one jewel, and is considerably less difficult than the other Apex Monsters.
We don’t have exact numbers but we can confirm you still have a chance of getting three in the hunt, but for simplicity’s sake it’s better to see it as an opportunity to get a guaranteed one per hunt, with the chance to get extras as a bonus.
Apex Rathian Or Mizutsune
On the other end of the spectrum, Apex Rathian seems to give a much higher yield of Lazurite Jewels, with the highest we’ve seen having earned 4 in a single run. That being said Apex Rathian is one of the hardest Apex fights, so if you’re running the hunt with your friends be prepared, considering the chance to cart is very high.
Obviously, the risk would be to avoid dying to Rathian’s much higher damage moves, since the monster is a lot more aggressive than Arzuros. You won’t get Lazurite Jewels if you fail the quest, so really only go with this option if you’re sure you won’t cart and have to reset the whole hunt.
The same logic could be applied to Apex Mizutsune, who also presents a much harder fight compared to its non-Apex counterpart. The idea is just that you want to decide how much risk you’re willing to take, for a chance at better rewards.
