Coming to the second part of version 1.1 of Honkai Star Rail is Luocha, the mysterious intergalatic merchant who carries a coffin with him.
Luocha is the second limited character in version 1.1 and will also come alongside with his signature Light Cone, Echoes of the Coffin. With that being said, is there more than meets the eye with this traveling merchant?
Character Preview
Luocha is a 5 Star Imaginary Type character who walks the Path of Abundance, who mainly provides healing to your party. He’s able to recover health for allies, dispel debuffs and even remove buffs placed on enemies. The breakdown of his kit is as follows:
- Thorns of the Abyss (Basic ATK) – Deals Imaginary DMG to a single enemy.
- Prayer of Abyss Flower (Skill) – Immediately restore a certain amount of HP for the target ally, while granting Luocha 1 stack of Abyss Flower. When the HP of any one ally falls to 50% or below, Luocha will immediately trigger an effect equivalent to his Skill once. This effect does not consume Skill Points, and can be triggered again after two turns.
- Death Wish (Ultimate) – Removes one buff from all enemies, deals Imaginary DMG to all enemies, and grants Luocha one stack of Abyss Flower.
- Cycle of Life (Talent) – When the Abyss Flower reaches 2 stacks, Luocha will consume all stacks to deploy a Field against the enemy. When any enemy within the Field is attacked by an ally, the attacker will immediately restore a certain amount of HP. The Field’s effects last for 2 turns. When Luocha is knocked down, the Field will be dispelled.
- Mercy of a Fool (Technique) – After using Technique, Talent will be immediately triggered at the start of the next battle.
Even not taking his kit into consideration, Luocha being an Imaginary Type character on its own is already very valuable, considering it’s a very limited type (Only Welt and Yukong). Adding his kit into the mix, he’s definitely a top tier support unit. Being able to dispel buffs from enemies can be very useful in clearing through Mara Struck enemies that are prevalent in the Xianzhou Luofu, which is the current planet the story of the game is at.
Luocha also has an additional resource called Abyss Flowers which can be gained through using his Skill and Ultimate. This resource is tied in with his Talent where whenever he gets 2 stacks of it, it essentially gives all your units life-steal for 2 turns. This frees up Luocha from healing and allows him to focus more on attacking, and killing the enemy is the best form of damage mitigation.
Suggested Relic Set
There’s two Relic Sets that players could choose from depending how Luocha fits in their team composition. The Passerby of Wandering Cloud set is a solid set if you’re planning on having Luocha as your dedicated healer as it’s focuses on his healing and support capabilities.
Alternatively, you could opt for the Musketeer of Wild Wheat set if you’re planning on making him a sub DPS. Considering Luocha’s healing scales of his ATK stat, this particular set can both make his healing more potent while also increasing his damage output and speed stat.
Of course, if you want the best of both worlds you can go for a two/two build and combine two pieces from each set, since the 2-Piece Effect for both is beneficial for Luocha.
The main stat I would focus on for his relics would be ATK % and Attack since it overall amplifies his healing potential. For his Link Rope, you could potentially opt for a Energy Regeneration Rate Stat to get his Ultimate up more frequently.
For the two Planar Ornaments, Fleet of the Ageless set will be your old reliable since it’s generally a good set for support units. Moreso for Luocha considering it also increases ATK by 8% for all of your allies when Luocha’s SPD reachers 120 or higher.
Suggested Light Cones
Ideally, the Light Cone that’s most suited for Luocha would be his Signature – Echoes of the Coffin. His signature light cone increases his attack by 20% when equipped, and increases all allies SPD by 12 whenever he uses his Ultimate. It also has an additional effect where for each different enemy target Luocha hits, it regenerates his Energy, making his Ultimate be online more.
For more free-to-play friendly Light Cone alternatives, you can pick these instead:
- Post-Op Conversation (4-Star)
The increase to Luocha’s Energy Regeneration Rate by 8% and his outgoing healing by 12% whenever he uses his Ultimate can be a pretty solid alternate to his signature Light Cone.
- Shared Feeling (4-Star)
Increases his Outgoing Healing by 10% and whenever he uses his skill, it regenerates 2 Energy for all allies, which can be pretty useful he uses it often.
- Cornucopia (3-Star)
Increases Luocha’s Outgoing Healing by 12% whenever he uses his Skill or Ultimate.
Final Thoughts
All in all, Luocha is a very easy to use character and can pretty much fit into any team composition. Having a built-in debuff dispel through his Cleansing Revival Trace as well as being able to remove a buff from the enemy through his Ultimate can be useful tools when dealing end-game content. (Kafka’s Dominate from Simulated Universe, Mara Struck enemies from Memories of Chaos, etc)
The fact that the only other option of debuff is from Pela, and pair that up that he’s an Imaginary character makes him very appealing. He’s also able to activate his talent that grants everyone in your party life-steal without much set-up either provided if you have the skill points.
Unlike other healers though, Luocha’s healing scales with his ATK stat, which can be good or bad depending on your playstyle. On one hand, he’s able to dish out a lot more damage which could end the battles quicker; on the other hand, he’ll be a lot more frail as compared to other healers since you’re not looking to stack up HP for him.
