The first anniversary of Goddess of Victory: Nikke is currently underway and Red Hood stomps in as the latest playable Pilgrim with her trusty Sniper Rifle.
Red Hood was a member of the legendary Goddess Squad alongside Liliweiss, Dorothy, Rapunzel, Scarlet, and Snow White. She holds her comrades dear and has a hobby of listening to old music and reading dirty magazines.
Red Hood is an Iron Code, SSR Attacker class Nikke who has the ability to access all three tiers of Burst steps, making her a Burst I II III unit all at once. She wields a Sniper Rifle named Wolfsbane and is a Pilgrim.
Note that this guide will be an early first impression of the newly released character, and her overall performances and usability may differ over time.
Skill Kit (values based on Skill Level 10)
Her Skill 1, Glaring Eyes, is a passive ability that consists of two effects, both affecting Red Hood herself, and is as follows:
- When casting a normal attack, Red Hood’s Charge Speed is increased by 3.81%, stacks up to 10 times, and lasts for 5 seconds.
- Upon entering battle, Red Hood converts any excess value of Charge Speed to Charge Damage 240% of the excess value continuously throughout combat.
Since Red Hood’s Skill 2 effect is tied to her Burst Skill, we will have an overview of what does her Burst Skill does first.
Unlike any other Nikke in the game, Red Hood is unique in the case that she can activate her Burst Skill at any step and each has its effects, making her a character of all Burst types.
Named Red Wolf, the Burst Skill has a cooldown time of 40 seconds and has the following effects:
- Step 1 Burst: Beast Cage
- Increases ATK of all allies by 77.55% of Red Hood’s ATK for 10 seconds.
- The cooldown of Red Hood’s Burst Skill is reduced by 40 seconds and activates once per battle.
- Step 2 Burst: The Last Howl
- Increases Red Hood’s HP Potency by 74.88% and taunts all enemies to attack her for 10 seconds.
- The cooldown of Red Hood’s Burst Skill is reduced by 40 seconds and activates once per battle.
- Step 3 Burst: Red Wolf
- Alters the weapon that Red Hood uses with the following stats.
- Damage: 27.8% of final ATK
- Full Charge Damage: 250% of damage
- Expand the Pierce range by 100%
- Charge Speed increases by 100.8%
- Lasts for 10 seconds
- Alters the weapon that Red Hood uses with the following stats.
Now back to her Skill 2, Wild Tooth, which has the following effect depending on the current Burst Skill that Red Hood has cast.
- Upon entering battle, Red Hood gains continuous Pierce effect.
- Activates if Red Hood activates Step 1 Burst Skill: Beast Cage.
- Increases the DEF of all allies by 50.68% of Red Hood’s DEF for 10 seconds.
- Activates if Red Hood activates Step 2 Burst Skill: The Last Howl.
- Recovers the HP of Red Hood by 24.04% of attack damage for 10 seconds.
- Activates if Red Hood activates Step 3 Burst Skill: Red Wold.
- Increases Red Hood’s ATK by 71.42% of her own ATK for 10 seconds.
Skill Breakdown
I am sure everyone has a similar reaction towards Red Hood’s kit due to how loaded she seems to be. So let us go through her abilities bit by bit.
First off, Red Hood practically starts every battle with a 3.81% increased Charge Speed just by attacking with the Skill 1 effect, and with fast attacks, she can gain the max stacks of 38.1% increased Charge Speed with relatively swiftness and ease.
The second component of her Skill 1 is that any excess of Charge Speed beyond 100% will each be converted into Charge Damage. As she will be gaining maximum Charge Speed from her Burst or ally supports, this means that even when off Burst, Red Hood will still deal a hefty amount of damage.
Moving on to her Burst Skill, Red Hood has a unique mechanic that allows her to activate her Burst in any step, each granting different effects depending on the Burst stage. Even though her Burst cooldown is shared regardless of when she activates them, she can still do more than one Burst in a rotation per battle. This is because when she activates her Burst Skill during Step 1 or 2, she can effectively refresh the cooldown once.
When activated during Burst I, Red Hood can provide the team with the highest possible ATK buff available right now in the game. Meanwhile, her Burst II gives her a taunt and a good life-leeching effect through her Skill 2, allowing her to soak some hits from bosses and with such a high life-stealing value, she can do so relatively well.
On the other hand, Red Hood’s Burst III has a relatively interesting effect, granting her with Pierce range and a max-out Charge Speed that complements her Skill 1. At a glance, it may look good but there is still much testing to do if this does any higher damage than her off-burst damage.
Final Thoughts
Red Hood is an interesting character since she is our first Nikke who can activate her Burst Skill in any phase of Burst. This opens up many possible team compositions due to her flexibility, even allowing her to be the sole Burst I in the team.
Her supportive abilities are not to be trifled with since she has the highest ATK buff possible in the game right now. Since she also has a Pierce effect to her shots, she can also work well as a Burst generator to help speed up the Burst rotations.
A good example of a solid formation she could benefit from is pairing her up with other monstrous DPS units such as Alice and Scarlet. In such a composition, she could deal decent damage while also providing allies with an enormous ATK buff.
A great way to boost Red Hood’s Charge Speed to go further and beyond is by teaming her with other Charge or Burst-focused supports like Dolla, Noise, or Maxwell.
While she is tagged as an Attacker, her damage multiplier is on the lower side when compared to some of the top DPS in the game right now, but she can still dish out impressive damage. This is especially true during boss battles where she can hit multiple parts of the enemy with her expanded AoE Pierce radius.
In other words, Red Hood may not be the next strongest DPS but her versatility allows her to be slotted into many different compositions. She is definitely worth pulling for, even if it is one copy of her.
