Charging in valiantly on her horseback, Crown will be joining Goddess of Victory: NIKKE in the 1.5 Anniversary Event, and here is a character breakdown guide for her.
One of the Pilgrims wandering the surface. To build a kingdom of her own, she believes herself to be royalty and treats all Nikkes she meets as subjects. If she takes someone as her subject, she will stand up for them no matter what happens.
In this Goddess of Victory: NIKKE guide for Crown, we will go through her abilities in detail, suggesting potential team synergies, and should you spend your resources pulling and building her.
Note that this guide will be an early first impression of the newly released character, and her overall performances and usability may differ over time.
Crown
Crown is an Iron Code, Burst II, SSR Defender Class Nikke who supports both offense and defense, providing a wide array of attack buffs, as well as increasing the overall survivability of the team by increasing DEF, taunting enemies, and providing shields for the team.
She is manufactured by Pilgrims and wields a Machine Gun named Your Majesty.
Wielding a Machine Gun, she will have the following stats:
- Ammo Capacity: 300
- Reload Time: 2.5 seconds
- Deals 5.57% Attack as damage
- Senses enemies that can’t be auto-targeted.
- Deals 200% damage when attacking the core.
Skill kit (values based on Skill Level 10)
Skill 1 – One for All
A passive ability that activates at the start of Full Burst, and affects all allies depending if they have previously cast their Burst Skills.
- Allies who have previously cast their Burst Skills will receive:
- ATK increased by 64.51% of the caster’s ATK for 15 seconds.
- Reloading Speed increased by 44.35% for 15 seconds.
- Allies who did not previously cast their Burst Skills
- DEF increased by 37.44% of the caster’s DEF for 15 seconds.
- Reloading Speed increased by 44.35% for 15 seconds.
Skill 2 – Royal Attire
Another passive ability, with this one being for sustaining and overall team sustainability. There are three parts to this skill which is:
- Activates after 43 normal attack(s). Affects self.
- Relax: HP Potency increases 4.06% continuously and stacks up to 20 time(s).
- Activates when Relax is fully stacked. Affects self after the stacks are removed.
- Invulnerable for 5 seconds
- Attract: Taunt all enemies for 5 seconds.
- Recovers 5.23% of the caster’s final Max HP as HP.
- Activates when recovery takes effect. Affects all allies.
- Attack Damage increases by 20.99% for 7 seconds.
Burst Skill – Last Kingdom
An active skill that has a cooldown of 20 seconds, the burst skill gives various buffs to teammates, them being:
- Affects all allies
- Attack Damage increases by 36.24% for 15 seconds
- Creates a Shield equal to 10.45% of the caster’s final Max HP for 15 seconds.
Skill 1 Breakdown
Crown’s skill 1 is rather simple, you activate the skill and it either buffs your teammates offensively or defensively depending on if they’ve previously released their burst skill.
While DEF is not really useful, the value is high enough that it does provide a noticeable damage reduction for the team. More importantly, she provides an insane ATK increase of over 60% which lasts for 15 seconds as well as having the rare ability to buff reload speed, allowing her to fit into most teams easily.
Skill 2 Breakdown
Skill 2 initially seems pretty broken with pretty strong sustain, taunt, invulnerability, and healing all-in-one passive ability. But unfortunately, the skill does have pretty significant restrictions that make it more niche.
Three of the skills are intertwined with one another, with the subsequent part being activated after the previous one takes effect. But the amount of time needed to just activate the 2nd part of the skill is already very long, making it very inefficient to rely on the skill for sustain.
For context, she gets 1 stack of Relax after 43 normal attacks, which means you would need a total of 860 shots just to activate the 2nd part of her skill, which is where the recovery, taunt, and invulnerability are.
Knowing that she has 250 bullets per mag, she would require at least 3 cycles before activating the 2nd part, and you only get 5 seconds of invulnerability after all that build-up, which is very likely to be not enough to replenish the health needed to activate the skill, to begin with, especially if the enemy has high consistent damage.
The third part of her skill however is very strong, every time she gets healed by either her own skills or other Nikke, Crown increases all allies’ Attack Damage by around 20% for 7 seconds.
Knowing that there are some Nikke that heal even when a character is at full health, namely Pepper and Rapunzel, this Attack Damage buff can virtually have a 100% uptime when paired with the correct units, resulting in a huge increase in DPS output.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that only the 3rd part of this skill is useful, but the other parts of this skill are very inefficient to charge up during a game, so it requires quite a bit of planning for it to have an effect.
Burst Skill Breakdown
Her burst skill is very simple, A massive Attack Damage increase for 15 seconds that is coupled with a shield for everyone.
Due to Crown having a unique 15-second buff duration, coupled with her Burst Skill only having a 20-second cooldown, the Attack Damage buff has virtually no downtime as you would be able to quickly proc the next cycle.
As for the shield, while not the thickest in the game, any shield will have the potential of saving a Nikke from fatal damage, that attribute alone gives the shield quite a bit of worth.
Should You Pull?
Short answer, YES
Semi-long answer, YES, and I will personally slap you off the face of this Earth if you do not at least try to pull for one of her.
From the looks of her kit, Crown is looking like one of the best buffers in the game, with extremely long uptime with any of her ATK buffs. With a dedicated healer, you’re looking at a character that can single-handedly double your entire team’s DPS with all the ATK buff she gives. The fact that she’s a 20-second Burst II Nikke is just the icing on an already rich cake, as Burst II Nikke is known to be less than stellar in most cases, aside from Naga I guess.
For PVP environments such as Arena, while Machine Gun Nikke has been known for not performing well in these modes, the sheer amount of buffs allows Crown to still have a place here. Furthermore, if you’re able to let her survive long enough to fully activate her Skill 2, the 5-second taunt and invincibility coupled with the insane buffs can really turn the tide of battle instantly.
In terms of team synergies, a basic guide would be to pair Crown with already strong DPS Nikke such as Modernia, Scarlet, and Alice to really take advantage of the buff she provides. Aside from that, healers who can do overflow heal, which is healing even when a Nikke is in full health will help maintain the ATK buff from Skill 2, so the previously mentioned Pepper and Rapunzel will be great pairings here as well.
Just in case the first part of this section wasn’t obvious enough. We recommend you to definitely, undoubtedly, absolutely pull for her. A limited banner character that is looking to be one of the best buffers in-game to the extent of creating a new power creep, coupled with a top-tier pose and design basically gives you no reason to skip Crown.
