At the start of Final Fantasy XVI, you’re introduced to Ambrosia, Clive’s white Chocobo. However, following the events of the prologue you might be inclined to think this is the last you see of the bird.
That’s not entirely true though, and in this guide we’ll show you how to get yourself a prized bird for roaming around the open world.
So it’s important to note that you can only get a Chocobo after the second timeskip. You’ll be able to access the quest during the The Gathering Storm main quest, where there’ll be a trader outside the gate at Martha’s Rest with a plus sign over his head.
He’ll be just outside the entrance to Martha’s Rest on the side near the obelisk, so it’ll be very hard to miss him unless you were trying to beeline through the story.
Talking to this NPC will initiate the The White-Winged Wonder side quest, where you’ll be reunited with Ambrosia and unlock her as a mount to use for the big open areas.
Thankfully the quest itself isn’t too difficult- just follow a trail of white feathers and defeat some bandits. Do note that if you’ve completed another sidequest with the trader in the first timeskip, he’ll mention recognizing Clive- a neat easter egg.
As a general rule of thumb, you’ll want to always pay attention to these quest icons- these are the ones that provide good rewards, such as gear or, in this case, a good mode of transport.
Considering the second timeskip also brings about the Hunt Board, which makes full use of exploring the big open areas, Ambrosia will be a huge help in getting to a lot of these marks- cutting down on travel time.
That being said she’s not a party member- don’t expect her to be able to fight like your other animal companion, Torgal.
The 16th standalone entry in the legendary Final Fantasy series marks a darker turn for the RPG franchise, with a complex tale of revenge, power struggles, and unavoidable tragedy.
Final Fantasy XVI reimagines the series' iconic summons as Eikons. These deadly creatures are housed within Dominants, men, and women who inherit their immense power at birth - whether they like it or not.
Play as Clive Rosfield, First Shield of Rosaria, and guardian of his younger brother Joshua, the Dominant of the Eikon Phoenix, in this epic action RPG from a team of Final Fantasy veterans.
