As the greatest magic show goes on in Genshin Impact, Lynette jumps out of her older brother’s hat and into action.

Lynette is the assistant of her older brother, Lyney, who perform in the Court of Fontaine as a magician. While her brother claims to be “the greatest magician in all Teyvat”, Lynette prefers to stay as low-profile as possible.

Lynette is a 4★ Anemo Sword user from the region of Fontaine, thus also possessing the new Arkhe alignment mechanic which aligns her with Ousia.

      Talents

      Normal Attack – Rapid Ritesword

As for every Sword user, Lynette’s Normal Attack is a string of 4 rapid strike combos while for her Charged Attack, she unleashes 2 swift slashes.

      Elemental Skill – Enigmatic Feint

For her Elemental Skill, Lynette flicks her mantle and executes an Enigma Thrust, dealing Anemo DMG to enemies hit. When the Enigma Thrust hits an enemy, it will restore some of Lynette’s health based on her max HP, but in the 4 seconds afterward, she will lose some amount of HP per second.

Enigmatic Feint can be activated via a press or holding the button. When pressed, Lynette will execute an Enigma Thurst swiftly.

However, when holding the button, Lynette will tap into a high-speed Pilfering Shadow state and apply Shadowsign to a random nearby foe. When the Pilfering Shadow state ends, Lynette will perform an Enigma Thurst. If there is an enemy nearby under the Shadowsign effect, Lynette will approach them swiftly before unleashing Enigma Thrust.

A maximum of 1 enemy can have Shadowsign at a given time and if Lynette is too far from the enemy with the mark, cancels the effect.

Furthermore, at certain intervals, Lynette will unleash a Surging Blade when she uses Enigma Thrust, dealing Ousia-aligned Anemo DMG to some Fontaine enemies.

Elemental Burst – Magic Trick: Astonishing Shift

When activated, Lynette raises her mantle high and uses a clever sleight of hand to summon a giant Bogglecat Box, dealing AoE Anemo DMG.

The Bogglecat Box will remain on the field for 12 seconds, taunting nearby enemies and dealing Anemo DMG to them at intervals. If the Bogglecat Box comes into contact with either Hydro, Pyro, Cryo, or Electro, it will be infused with the corresponding element and additionally fire Vivid Shots to a random single target that deals DMG from that element at set intervals.

The elemental absorption will only trigger once during the entirety of the ability’s duration.

Passive Skill (1st Ascension) – Sophisticated Synergy

For the next 10 seconds after Lynette uses her Elemental Burst, Magic Trick: Astonishing Shift, all team members will receive an ATK increase depending on how many different Elemental Types are in the party.

Passive Skill (4th Ascension) – Props Positively Prepped

When Lynette uses her Elemental Burst, Magic Trick: Astonishing Shift and the Bogglecat Box go through an Elemental Conversion, increases the damage dealt by an additional 15% for the remainder of the ability’s duration.

      Ability Breakdown

Based on her kit, Lynette will play the same role as other Anemo support like Kazuha and Sucrose, buffing allies and triggering Swirl reactions to deal more damage.

Her Elemental Skill, Enigmatic Feint, is a quick forward attack that deals Anemo DMG to enemies and triggers the Swirl reaction. It has two methods of activation and each has a slightly different effect. When tapped, Lynette would just execute the thrust quicker, while holding the ability will give her an advantage of a very fast dash akin to Yelan‘s Lingering Lifeline, allowing her to get close to enemies or simply move to a safer distance. Despite different executions, both activations will still end with an Enigma Thrust and will do the same damage.

Moving on to her Elemental Burst, Magic Trick: Astonishing Shift, which will summon a Bogglecat Box after she flicks her mantle to deal AoE Anemo DMG to enemies. Like most Anemo characters, the Bogglecat Box will deal Anemo DMG to nearby enemies in set intervals, and coming in contact with another Element that isn’t Anemo, Geo, or Dendro will convert the damage dealt into the corresponding element. One aspect that set Lynette’s Burst apart from other Anemo characters is that it possesses a taunting capability that attracts enemies, though it may not be reliable as other existing abilities with similar mechanics have proved to be rather inconsistent. That said, the first few seconds of the ability should still be reliable enough to group enemies.

Like Kazuha, Lynette also has the means to buff her allies in the form of her 1st Ascension passive, Sophisticated Synergy, which boosts the entire party’s ATK depending on the amount of different Elemental Types in the party after she uses her Elemental Burst, going up to a total of 20% damage increase. This is a great ability as the entire team gets a damage boost but it only lasts for 10 seconds and since it ties to Lynette’s Elemental Burst, there is no reliable way to refresh the buff. Since the damage enhancement is also based on having different Elemental Types, this made the boost less significant in a Mono-Element team where the composition is comprised of mostly the same elementals.

      Constellations

For players who may be worried that Lynette requiring Constellations unlocked to be optimal due to the recent trends of 4★ characters needing them, fret not as Lynette is perfectly viable without them.

Her first Constellation is called “A Cold Blade Like Shadow“, which creates a vortex at the target’s location if they are under the Shadowsign effect and Lynette hits them with Engimatic Feint’s Enigma Thrust. The vortex will then pulls nearby enemies to the target, providing Lynette with some grouping capability. Since it explicitly stated that enemies need to be under the Shadowsign effect, you will have to hold the button while using her Elemental Skill to trigger the vortex.

Her Constellation 2, Endless Mysteries, causes her Element Burst’s summoned Bogglecat Box to fire an additional Vivid Shot, slightly increasing her damage output. While her Constellation 4, Tacit Coordination, adds an additional charge to Enigmatic Feint, thus giving her more mobility and grouping capability in combination with her Constellation 1.

Lastly, her Constellation 6, Watchful Eye, is when things get interesting. When the Constellation unlocks, Lynette will gain an Anemo Infusion to her Normal attack and a 20% Anemo DMG Bonus for 6 seconds after using Enigmatic Feint. This opens up a new playstyle for Lynette where she can stay on-field as a main DPS.

As you can see, most of her Constellations focus on adding a slight boost to her kit without anything too game-changing. While her Constellation 6 is only relevant if you are considering building her as a main DPS.

      Recommended Artifacts

For Artifact suggestions, Lynette has 2 distinct build options depending on how you want to play her.

If you are aiming to build her as a support or as an off-field DPS, target to provide as much Elemental Mastery for her as possible, while also giving her sufficient Energy Recharge for regular Elemental Burst uptime.

As goes for most Anemo supports, the natural go-to Artifact set would be 4 pieces of Viridescent Venerer, which provides Anemo DMG Bonus, increased Swirl reaction damage, and the effect of decreasing enemies’ Element RES to the element infused in the Swirl reaction.

Alternatively, the Emblem of Severed Fate Artifact set would also be a viable option for Lynette if you can provide her with a high amount of Energy Recharge, granting her Element Burst with a huge damage boost.

      Unedited Image Credit: HoYoverse

Another way to play Lynette is by building her as a main DPS, but we recommend only doing so if you managed to unlock her Constellation 6. If you planned on running her as a main DPS or in a Mono-Anemo team, the new Marechaussee Hunter set would be a good option, increasing her Normal and Charged Attack DMG especially when it’s infused with Anemo through her Constellation 6 buff.

Additionally, the 4-piece bonus effect of Marechaussee Hunter further increases Lynette’s CRIT Rate as the wearer’s health value shifts and can be triggered regularly as her Elemental Skill does drain and restore her HP. For such a build, aim to maximize her damage by focusing on hitting the recommended CRIT Rate CRIT DMG ratio of 1:2, as well as hitting as many ATK stats as possible. As for the Goblet slot, target Anemo DMG Bonus as your main stat.

      Recommended Weapon

For Lynette’s weapon choices, she can already be quite optimal without premium 5★ weapons. That said, Light of Foliar Incision, Haran Geppaku Futsu, Primordial Jade Cutter, and Mistsplitter Reforged are all great weapons for Lynette, just by stats alone.

If you are looking for 4★ options, the Sacrificial Sword would be an amazing choice for Lynette as it provides a good amount of Energy Recharge but also the chance to refresh the cooldown of her Elemental Skill. If you have her first Constellation unlocked, the Sacrificial Sword becomes one of her best weapon options as the cooldown refresh provides her more opportunity with grouping.

Another great option would be the new sword unlocked through fishing in Fontaine, the Fleuve Cendre Ferryman, which gives Lynette an additional CRIT Rate while using Elemental Skill and increased Energy Recharge afterward. Other good choices are Favonius Sword, Iron Sting, and the new Fontaine craftable, Finale of the Deep.

On the other hand, if you are aiming to build Lynette as a main DPS, the new Battle Pass weapon, Wolf-Fang is a great option as it increases her Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst DMG, while also her CRIT Rate as she uses her abilities.

      Team Recommendation

In general, Lynette is played mostly as a Swirl Support and she is flexible enough to be running in most teams that require such a member, a good stand-in for Kazuha and Sucrose. An example would be running her in a Hyperbloom team with Nahida, Xingqiu, and Fischl, triggering Swirls on top of the Dendro reactions. Alternatively, you can run her to support hypercarries like her brother Lyney, Raiden Shogun, Ayaka, and many more.

A fun way to utilize her is to slot her into a Mono-Anemo team where she either supports or is the main DPS herself. If you want to use her as a support in a Mono-Anemo team, a good one would be pairing her with Wanderer, Faruzan, and Bennett. One benefit of running her over Kazuha is that she can buff Wanderer while Kazuha can’t as his passive only provides the Elemental DMG bonus corresponding to the Swirl-absorbed element.

As mentioned, Lynette can be a viable main DPS if you managed to unlock her Constellation 6. A good team composition would be to have her together with Xiangling, Faruzan, and Bennett where they all buff each other for increased damage.

      Final Thoughts

Overall, Lynette is a good character that can unleash decent damage and is extremely versatile to be played in a variety of team compositions as the Swirl Support, making her a good stand-in for Sucrose and Kazuha.

One aspect of her that may appeal to players is her mobility with her Elemental Skill, Enigmatic Feint, which provides her with a great burst of speed similar to that of Yelan’s. Such an ability made exploration a breeze as you can move from place to place in a relatively short time. Not to mention that she is a 4★ character thus making unlocking her Constellations a lot easier compared to limited 5★ units, so getting her fourth Constellation for additional Elemental Skill charges would greatly improve her agility for exploration.

Note that she is obtainable for free in the upcoming The Curtain Never Falls on Magic event so unless you are aiming to pull for her Constellations or her brother, Lyney, it is safe to skip her for other future Fontaine characters.
