As with every new nation added into Genshin Impact, comes a new series of craftable weapons and Fontaine is no exception.
With the update to Genshin Impact that adds the highly-anticipated nation of Hydro, Fontaine, 5 new craftable weapons can be forged, one for each weapon type. Additionally, a new Sword is also unlockable by exchanging marine lives caught through fishing with a vendor.
Craftable weapons usually serve as great free-to-play friendly options for players who do not pull from Weapon Banners and the Fontaine forgeable arsenals are no exception, each spotting decent stats.
Much like other regional craftable weapons, the Fontaine series also possesses special passive abilities that were themed after a specific mechanic. In the case of Fontaine craftable weapons, they all provide passive abilities associated with HP alteration where whenever the health value of the wearer shifts, an effect triggers. This means any character that scales off of Max HP can take better advantage of these weapons, but other stat-scaling units can still make good use of the weapons’ versatility.
How to Unlock Weapon Blueprints
Luckily, all the craftable weapon blueprints from the Fontaine series can be easily unlocked without the need to clear specific side quests. To unlock them, players can do so by exchanging materials with Estelle, the blacksmith, and Boss of Beaumont Workshop in the Court of Fontaine area.
The weapon blueprints and the required materials to be exchanged to unlock them are as follows:
- Finale of the Deep (Sword)
- Bulle Fruit x10, Tidalga x10, Condessence Crystal x10
- Tidal Shadow (Claymore)
- Bulle Fruit x10, Marcotte x10, Condessence Crystal x10
- Rightful Reward (Polearm)
- Bulle Fruit x10, Pluie Lotus x10, Condessence Crystal x10
- Flowing Purity (Catalyst)
- Tidalga x10, Marcotte x10, Condessence Crystal x10
- Song of Stillness (Bow)
- Pluie Lotus x10, Marcotte x10, Condessence Crystal x10
All materials are found within Fontaine like the Bulle Fruit growing on various trees and Marcotte scattering throughout the grass field of the region. On the other hand, the Pluie Lotus plants are found mostly in shallow waters like riverbanks, and Tidalga is a type of phytoplankton found underwater. As for Condessence Crystal ores, they can be found both on the surface and under the water.
Finale of the Deep
Finale of the Deep is a new 4★ Sword that is craftable at the blacksmith. The Sword has a 44 Base ATK and a +6% ATK Bonus Sub-Stat.
The passive skill of the weapon is called “An End Sublime” and it has the following effect:
- When the wearer uses an Elemental Skill, their ATK will be increased by 12% for 15 seconds, and a Bond of Life status effect valued at 25% of Max HP will be granted.
- If the wearer clears the Bond of Life threshold, a maximum of 150 ATK will be granted based on 2.4% of the Bond cleared for 15 seconds.
- The skill effect can only be activated once every 10 seconds.
Bond of Life is a new status effect applied to characters from specific Fontaine weapons, and it creates a temporary HP lock on the affected unit, preventing them from recovering their health. To remove the Bond of Life, the wearer needs to receive healing that is equal to the amount of the Bond of Life. Note that the Bond of Life status effect has a long active duration and cannot be canceled by a Statue of the Seven. Any additional Bond of Life will stack with existing ones, increasing the healing requirement to clear the status effect.
Weapon Breakdown
Based on the base stats alone, the Finale of the Deep is a decent Sword for any characters that may rely on ATK stats to further increase their overall damage however there are a few important caveats to note. As the way the passive effect works, players are required to bring a healer to clear the Bond of Life status effect in order to take advantage of the further ATK boost.
On top of that, the steps the effect progresses to the fullest potential are slow thus it means that achieving maximum power for each skill rotation is not feasible. Most characters already have a specific ability rotation in the landscape of optimal gameplay so players would not wait for the effect to ramp up the damage before they unleash their units’ Elemental Burst, losing the main point of equipping the weapon.
Since the Bond of Life locks out a rather decent amount of health from recovering, most DPS characters who already have low max HP will be uncomfortable to play with if equipped with this Sword. This is unless players specifically build more max HP for the wielder to take full advantage of the weapon’s gimmick.
With the weapon’s passive effect in mind, any character can be equipped with the Sword and use Elemental Skill for the added ATK boost. However, characters that scale off ATK and HP, or are able to self-heal will be able to take better advantage of the weapon. Some recommended candidates to wield the weapon are Ayato, Jean, Bennett, Lynette, Xingqiu, and Hydro Traveller.
Tidal Shadow
Tidal Shadow is a new 4★ Claymore that is craftable at the blacksmith. The Claymore has a 42 Base ATK and a +9% ATK Bonus Sub-Stat.
The passive skill of the weapon is called “White Cruising Wave” and it has the following effect:
- After the wielder is healed, their ATK will be increased by 24% for 8 seconds.
- The effect can be triggered even when the character is off-field.
Weapon Breakdown
In general, the Tidal Shadow is a decent Claymore with good base stats for any character that scales off ATK. Since the only requisite of the weapon’s passive activation is having the wielder healed up, this means healers are required for the Claymore’s potential to shine and consistent effect uptime should be easily achievable so long as any source of healing persists.
Due to the effect being able to be triggered even while the character is switched out, any ATK scaling characters who generally stay off-field as supports like Beidou, Chongyun, and Sayu, can make good use of the weapon.
While Noelle scales mostly of DEF, she can still take advantage of the ATK boost with her Elemental Burst providing her with heals to trigger the weapon’s effect.
Rightful Reward
Rightful Reward is a new 4★ Polearm that is craftable at the blacksmith. The Polearm has a 44 Base ATK and a +6% HP Bonus Sub-Stat.
The passive skill of the weapon is called “Tip of the Spear” and it has the following effect:
- After the wielder is healed, they restore 8 Energy.
- The effect can be triggered once every 10 seconds and can activate even when the character is off-field.
Weapon Breakdown
Rightful Reward has a similar passive effect as the aforementioned Tidal Shadow, however, instead of an ATK increase, the Polearm restores Energy to the wielder instead, when they receive any form of healing. This helps speed up the wielder’s Elemental Burst recharge time and allows for smoother ability rotation.
Much like Tidal Shadow, the consistency of upkeeping Rightful Reward’s effect should be relatively easy.
The Polearm also has an HP% bonus sub-stat instead of ATK% so any characters that scale with HP stat for their utilities like Candace, Mika, Thoma, and Yaoyao, can easily take advantage of the weapon.
Flowing Purity
Flowing Purity is a new 4★ Catalyst that is craftable at the blacksmith. The Catalyst has a 44 Base ATK and a +6% ATK Bonus Sub-Stat.
The passive skill of the weapon is called “Unfinished Masterpiece” and it has the following effect:
- When the wearer uses an Elemental Skill, All Elemental DMG Bonus will be increased by 8% for 15 seconds, and a Bond of Life status effect valued at 25% of Max HP will be granted.
- If the wearer clears the Bond of Life threshold, for every 1,000 HP cleared in the process, provide an additional 2% All Elemental DMG Bonus, up to a maximum of 12%, and lasts for 15 seconds.
- The skill effect can only be activated once every 10 seconds.
Weapon Breakdown
Among all craftable Fontaine weapons, the Flowing Purity is arguably one of the more appealing options to forge. The Catalyst has a similar effect to the previously mentioned Finale of the Deep, but rather than increasing ATK, it amplifies All Elemental DMG instead. However, much like Finale of the Deep, it shares the same drawbacks.
That said, the base stats are already decent for most Catalyst users and since they generally rely on utilizing their Skills and focus on their Elemental damage for Reactions, there are a lot of good candidates to wield the weapon.
Some notable candidates to take advantage of Flowing Purity are Klee, Mona, Ningguang, Yae Miko, and Yanfei.
Song of Stillness
Song of Stillness is a new 4★ Bow that is craftable at the blacksmith. The Bow has a 42 Base ATK and a +9% ATK Bonus Sub-Stat.
The passive skill of the weapon is called “Benthic Pulse” and it has the following effect:
- After the wielder is healed, their ATK will be increased by 16% for 8 seconds.
- The effect can be triggered even when the character is off-field.
Weapon Breakdown
Based on the passive effect description, Song of Stillness shares an almost identical effect with the aforementioned Claymore, Tidal Shadow. As such, any knowledge regarding Tidal Shadow can be applied to Song of Stillness.
The stats attached to the weapon are decent and since the passive effect can triggered even when the character is not on the field, any ATK scaling characters that play the role of an off-field DPS or support like Aloy, Fischl, Sara, and even Ganyu in specific team compositions can make good use of Song of Stillness.
Fleuve Cendre Ferryman
Lastly, we have Fleuve Cendre Ferryman, a new 4★ Sword that isn’t part of the Fontaine craftable weapons lineup but is still unlockable for free through fishing for rare marine life in Fontaine.
To unlock the Sword, players will have to collect the following fishes and items to trade with Delaroche of the Fontaine Fishing Association:
- Rippling Heartfeather Bass x10
- Blazing Heartfeather Bass x10
- Streaming Axe Marlin x12
- Maintenance Mek: Platinum Collection x4
The Fleuve Cendre Ferryman has a 42 Base ATK and a +10% Energy Recharge. The passive skill of this Sword is called “Ironbone” and it has the following effect:
- Passively increases Elemental Skill CRIT Rate by 8%.
- Additionally, after using Elemental Skill, the wielder gains an additional 16% increased Energy Recharge for 5 seconds.
Weapon Breakdown
If you have the will to fish every day, the Fleuve Cendre Ferryman is a great Sword for many characters who fill in the role of a Sub-DPS due to the Energy Recharge secondary stat and its passive effect.
In general, the Sword benefits both the wielder’s Elemental Skill and Burst with its passive effect, granting increased CRIT Rate while casting Skill, giving the wielder a chance to deal better damage. On the other hand, the further Energy Recharge after casting Elemental Skill, helps characters to regain their Burst sooner for smoother ability rotation.
Due to its passive effect, the Fleuve Cendre Ferryman is a flexible piece of weapon that many characters can make good use of, especially if they have a low Elemental Skill cooldown. Some recommended characters to wield the Sword are Albedo, Ayato, Bennett, Kaeya, Layla, and Xingqiu.
