As Neon Genesis Evangelion makes its way into Final Gear, we’ll look at the event units and go through the units to see if they’re worth it. The event will add 5 new pilots to their game. For the purposes of this guide, we’ll be looking at the pilots and judging them based on how they far with their custom mechs (your mileage will vary if they’re not using their custom mechs).
This event will have two banners—the first one adds Asuka and Rei, while the second one that comes later will add Mari and Kaworu. There is one unit that is not part of any banner, and that is…
The main character of Evangelion, Shinji pilots the legendary Evangelion Unit-01 and is a Striker. Shinji is a pretty bad unit—many of your SSR pilots will easily outclass him.
However, as a free unit with farmable custom mech parts, F2P players are highly recommended to farm for him. His recharge rate is pretty fast and while he is outclassed in PvE content, Shinji is viable in PvP in certain compositions.
Asuka is a Shooter in Final Gear and is easily one of the best characters to get in this collab. Regarded as a superior version of Viorate, Asuka has a fantastic crit rate. Not only that, she is the best pilot at fighting shielded bosses as she ignores shields completely.
Even in the future, Asuka will still have a place in both PvE and PvP content. Out of all the units in the Evangelion collab, this tsundere is one that definitely deserves to be in your team in Final Gear.
Rei is a defender in Final Gear who is unfortunately outshined by her banner partner, Asuka. She is a decent tank, comparable to Murasaki. However, if you already have Leangle or Solveig, then she really doesn’t offer much. Great at surviving and countering, but not as good as keeping her team alive.
Nagisa is a Demolisher and all-around good unit in Final Gear. Good at buffing herself and increasing his offensive capabilities. The second best character in this collab after Asuka. If you’re in need of another damage dealer, you can consider Nagisa.
Unfortunately, the English version of the game hasn’t released the equivalent image for Mari, so we’re using her JP one. Mari Makinami illustrious is a Striker who doesn’t have much going for her. While she is still better than Shinji, she’s a pretty mediocre damage dealer who doesn’t contribute anything much beyond that.
That is all for our overview of the Evangelion collab characters in Final Gear. We highly recommend pulling for Asuka. However, don’t let that stop you from pulling for your favourite characters as waifu > meta.
Note that if the Evangelion collab returns in the future, there’ll be newer, Q versions of these characters, some of whom are top tier. In the meantime, stay tuned to Final Gear‘s Twitter account for more news.
