As Final Fantasy VII Rebirth finally gets released, players are bound to get more hype to finally experience what the open world has to offer, especially side quests.
Standard to open-world games; however, there comes a bevy of side quests for the players to clear. So today, we have prepared a guide that directs you to some of the more essential side quests available in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
Chapter 3 – Stuck in a Rut
For starters, we have a very important side quest that we highly recommend players clear, which is the ‘Stuck in a Rut’ side quest in Chapter 3.
This side quest is pretty important as it unlocks the Chocobo Carriage feature, which allows you to fast travel between the Junon region to Grassland at the beginning of the game. While you still can move through the regions without completing this side quest, you would have to manually move between them through mining caves, which will be quite time-consuming.
As important as clearing the quest is, the quest itself is actually very easy, as players will only need to look for items that have been marked on the given map. Afterward, players would only need to match it with the original map and search for them using Chocobo.
Chapter 9 – The Saga of Seaside Inn
The Corel region is filled with various activities for the players to explore, especially on the beach – Costa del Sol, but one of the most important quests in the region is ‘The Saga of Seaside Inn,’ where Johny gets the curse of ‘Kage Bunshin’ and have multiple twins. The rewards of the quest itself are not important, but this quest will unlock Johny’s Treasure Trove.
Throughout the game, players can collect various Play Arts and open Johny’s Treasure Trove, which is similar to unlocking collectible items in other games. Once you manage to collect all the Play Arts, you will unlock the very valuable reward hidden in his treasure. (As for what the reward is, unfortunately, we haven’t collected them all, so we have no idea too)
It takes a rather long to complete ‘The Saga of Seaside Inn’. First, you have to find certain items, then you would need to complete a few side activities named Lifesprings, after which the location of Tonbery’s King will automatically be marked in the Corel region. Finally, you would need to defeat it and give the crown it drops to Johny to finish the side quest.
Chapter 9 – The Pursuit of Perfection
Another essential sidequest in the same chapter would be ‘The Pursuit of Perfection’, this time situated in the Gongaga region.
Players can immediately get The Pursuit of Perfection side quest by checking the quest board in the residential area, and the reward given is the Fafnir Rifle, a powerful weapon for Barret.
The quest is really simple, players only need to head to the specified location that has been given to them, after which they defeat the enemies there then provide the needed materials to the blacksmith.
Chapter 10 – Promise to Keep
This quest will only be unlocked after players have completed all the side quests in the Cosmo Canyon region, but completing it should still be high on your priority list.
This is because ‘Promise to Keep’ will reward players with a VERY powerful accessory – the Mythical Amulet, which powers up Summons. Given how often Summons will be used in the game, especially in long fights, the accessory will be an important asset to get your hands on.
To complete the quest, players will need to head to the marked location to fight some enemies. Afterward, they would need to follow the monsters to fight a boss named Irasceros. The boss fight is rather difficult, so players will need to be sufficiently prepared before heading into the boss fight.
The quest will be completed after the boss is felled.
Chapter 10 – Bonds of Trust
‘Bonds of Trust’ will appear as you enter the Canyon region, the unique place where Soaring Chocobo can be found gliding through the air. If you are too busy (or too lazy) to find a location to catch the Chocobo, the quest will tell you its location. Most importantly, the quest will unlock the Chocobo Glide mini-game which will reward the player with the Crescent Sickle – a powerful weapon for Yuffie.
To complete the quest, players would only need to complete the mini-game exercise of gliding through the air using the Soaring Chocobo.
Chapter 11 – Esoteric Secrets of the Elders
This quest will appear after you enter the Nibelheim region, in which it will also tell you the location of the Chocobo Waverunners. More importantly, the quest will allow you to unlock Discovery – Chocograss Quota. When you have collected enough Chocograss, give the Chocograss to the NPC and you will obtain the Cait Sith weapon – Gjallarhorn.
But, Why Though?
After reading through this, you might be asking “Why do I need to do all this? Side quests are not mandatory”.
And indeed they are not, but there are some other side benefits to doing them.
For one, most side quests in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will give you additional bonding with the character that is involved in the quest. So running some side quests can be crucial in affecting the storyline and cutscenes shown at some parts of the game.
Furthermore, most of the side quests will also provide a Manuscript Folio, which can help characters progress faster in unlocking their skills and abilities.
Last but not least, for achievement’s sake, when you complete all the side quests, you will also get the ‘My Job Here is Done’ trophy.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is available now on PlayStation 5.
