Recently Smilegate has announced a new banner character for Epic Seven: Eligos, coming on the 23rd of March. Eligos is a fire ranger hero that has ‘Critical Hit Chance’ as his Imprint Concentration and ‘Attack’ (%) as his Imprint Release. With male character releases far and few in between should you pull for Eligos, The deadly leader of Dagger Sicar? Read up to find out my thoughts on the matter.
We should note that since Eligos has not been released yet, this will be a first impressions guide based on his recently released character preview that is meant to showcase his abilities.
The Animations of Eligos
Let’s start with the skill animations as that is what makes Epic Seven different from other gacha titles.
Eligos Skill 3 Cloak and Trigger, is one of the coolest ones in the game thus far, staying true to his crime boss nature, the animation sees Eligos patiently waiting in a room, and as the targeted hero approaches he whips out his gun, and shoots them in cold blood.
His Skill 2 The Cleaner, when triggered, will have him throw an explosive briefcase on the ground at the enemy with the highest attack and proves that cool guys look at explosions too.
Needless to say, it’s pretty much up there for me in terms of cool so +1 to that point.
The Best use for Eligos
Moving on, we get to the more important bit which is his skill kit and how I think Eligos would be used, and which hero synergizes well with him in PvP.
There is only one way I can see myself playing Eligos, he would go second in my rotation with decent enough speed to control a pesky unit like Light Angelica or Senya.
Utilizing the S3 which dispels two buffs before inflicting the target and decreased Defense for 2 turns as well as reduced Combat Readiness by up to 50% he would be perfect in preventing them from getting a turn and spoiling your entire rotation.
Following that, if I did not get 15%’ed on the debuffs, I would follow up with a killing attack with any of my damage dealers which would then trigger Eligos’s S2 The Cleaner, which ideally would kill or greatly damage the enemy team’s highest DPS.
From then on, it’s a matter of wearing down whichever enemies are left with Eligos S1 which if used when Eligos has perception, would trigger a dual attack with the ally that has the highest attack.
Some really good heroes to synergize with Eligos would be:
Openers
Amid – Generally good turn 1 unit to push the entire team Combat Readiness. The perfect opener against turn 2 teams, while working in tandem with Eligos to prevent key enemy units from ever taking a turn.
Zio – He pushes a person, Eligos pushes a person, you effectively negate the enemy team from taking a turn in the right conditions, and Zio would always normally go first.
DPS
Specter Tenebria – Works well with Eligos due to increased damage against debuff units as well as dual attack with her Skill 1 hits two enemies instead of one.
Senya – A well-built Senya would do a lot of damage when following up with a dual attack as well as provide some good overall utility for the entire team.
For PvE he is definitely a solid investment with great debuffs and dual attack potential, this is the type of content I can see most people would use him in.
Final Verdict
While Eligos is by no means a bad hero for Epic Seven, he does rely on his teammates quite a bit which is through his S2 and S1 to actually realize his fullest potential in PvP.
So while I believe that he is a great hero to have in your roster, he is definitely not a hero you must have, especially if you are still tight on sky stones after hitting that pity for Amid during her banner.
But if you prioritize form over function, and are gearing more towards PvE content-clearing, he is a definite must-roll.
Epic Seven is available for iOS and Android devices.
