Epic Seven has released the preview for their newest Moonlight 5* Character, Architect Laika and with the update dropping today many including myself may be wondering, should we pull for Architect Laika?
Architect Laika is a 5* Light Mage that has Effectiveness % as her Imprint Release, and Attack (%) when Concentrated.
We should note that since Architect Laika has not been released yet, this will be a first impressions guide based on her recently released character preview that is meant to showcase her abilities.
Animation – Laika-inda Meh
Coming right at the heels of Eligos who had pretty amazing animations for both his S3 and his S2, Architect Laika’s animations for me are unfortunately somewhat lackluster even when compared to her Earth version.
Her S3 – Eliminating the Target while rather pretty due to the bright colors, unfortunately lacks any sense of power behind it. The explosive effects from the giant cannon she summons didn’t feel nor look strong and weighty while also ending rather abruptly did not make it any better.
While her S2 – Laying the Groundwork is similar to that of her Earth counterpart and is pretty basic.
In terms of Cool factor, Architect Laika definitely misses a point. Aesthetically she looks great, her character design is beautiful overall but that’s certainly not enough to warrant a +1 in terms of cool.
The Best use for Architect Laika
While the previews do mention her speed being relatively high as a mage and also having the soulburn on her S2 which gives her an extra turn, Architect Laika unfortunately feels like another cleaver unit I would personally never be able to utilize properly.
Due to gear limitations, as well as Zio being in the game, I probably would never be able to get her to go Turn 1 which is most ideal for her because of the 100% chance to dispel 2 buffs on the enemy and applying Target afterwards which helps set up the S3.
Instead I would opt for a more balanced approach, with speed probably at 240 while attack values at least at 3.5k and Critical Hit Damage around 300% or more while holding Tagahel as the artifact of choice.
Some really good heroes to Synergize Architect Laika with using this approach include:
Amid – Generally good turn 1 unit to push the entire team Combat Readiness. The perfect opener against turn 2 teams and pesky Celine’s.
Wanderer Silk – Her Speed Imprint Release could be helpful while also being able to lockdown key targets, she also has a Target debuff on her s1 which may help.
Command Model Laika – Her Earth counterpart could help loads by using the S2 which puts Target on the selected enemy and having Architect Laika be the follow up for the dual attack with her S1 – Removing Variables that pushes her Combat Readiness by 20% gives her a better chance at following up with Laying Groundwork (soulburned) and finally Eliminating the Target which in theory, should delete 2 of the enemy units that has the Target debuff applied.
Final Thoughts
Architect Laika’s kit unfortunately does not impress, with her S3 that requires an initial set-up of Target debuff to realize its full potential its a very risky endeavor as it subjects you to the whims of the dreaded 15%. Couple that with a lukewarm animation, she’s definitely an easy skip.
However, I would also advise to at least attempt to roll for her regardless if you have the resources as her Skill set may change over time much like Mediator Kawerik and Astromancer Elena, which had very rough debuts and are generally better nowadays after the buffs and adjustments.
