Monster Hunter Wilds allows players to set up their own Pop-Up Camp across various maps, providing convenient spots to rearm and restock during hunts. These camps serve as fast travel points and respawn locations when carted. However, choosing the right location is crucial, as monsters can destroy camps placed in dangerous areas, costing you points for repairs. You can place up to five Pop-Up Camps on each map.
Camps have three safety levels:
- Safe: No monsters can reach these spots, guaranteeing zero destruction
- Insecure: Monsters can reach but are unlikely to find; low risk of destruction
- Dangerous: Near monster nests or patrol routes; high destruction risk requiring frequent point expenditure for repairs

There are two main methods to locate potential camp spots. You can follow the Quatreflies icons that appear on your map while exploring, or listen for NPC hints from Alma or your Palico who will mention potential camping spots when you’re near one.

Setting up camps strategically offers several advantages including reduced travel time between hunting areas, quick access to resource-rich regions, faster return to battle after being carted, proximity to specific monster territories for targeted farming, and safe spots to restock supplies during extended hunting sessions.

Camps can be placed, removed, or relocated at any time, though destroyed camps require point expenditure to repair. Each locale has unique camp spots with varying scenery and strategic value, and some camp locations are naturally discovered during story progression.

Windward Plains
Windward Plains is the widest map with only 2 safe camp locations out of 11 possible spots. Windward Plains already has Kunafa Village as a Fast Travel Point in the middle of the map, offering short walking distances to most areas, but additional camps are still valuable for rearming after being carted.
Area 4: Mineral Cave (Safe)
Mineral Cave is a safe camp and the closest safe location to Main Base Camp. You can find it by following the small path immediately on the right from Base Camp entrance to the northwest, where you’ll discover a Crystal Cave with 3 Mining Outcrops. This camp provides fast access to Area 5, where large monsters like Rey Dau often appear.

Area 14: Groundwater Vein (Safe), below Area 13
You get into this area by going down the cave near Oasis Camp Spot in 13 or you can go to Area 14 or 15 and look for a small path that leads to underground water. This camp gives a safe and fast access to Area 13,15 and 16, which is the furthest area from Base Camp.

Area 13: West Campsite (Insecure)
Immediately on the desert, West of Oasis, the place is open so it’s insecure but it’s away from monster route. If you don’t like Groundwater Vein Spot, this is the second best place for Area 13.

Area 16: Bone Desert and Northwest Campsite (Insecure)
Area 16 offers 2 Insecure Campsites that have easy access to Area 17, Rey Dau’s Nest.
Northwest Campsite is on the North of Area 16 while Bone Desert Campsite is on the South of Area 16, I personally recommend Bone Desert Campsite because it’s pretty discreet and it’s closest to Rey Dau’s Nest where you potentially grind a lot and faint a lot.

Scarlet Forest
Unlike the wide Windward Plains, Scarlet Forest features a very long map layout, making travel time from Base Camp to distant areas considerable. While the map already has Base Camp and Wud Wud Village as travel points, adding Pop-Up Camps significantly improves your hunting experience. Scarlet Forest boasts the most visually appealing camp locations of all locales, making exploration worthwhile.
Area 6: Flowering Rocks Campsite (Safe)
Flowering Rocks Campsite placed right in the middle of South Region of Scarlet Forest, perfect for a camp not only because it’s safe but it’s also close to everywhere in the South area.

Area 8: Underground Lake (Safe)
The view is beautiful here, a glowing water cave that gives you quick access to Fishing, 3 Mineral Spots, 3 Special Item Gathering Spots, and easy access to East of Scarlet Forest Area.

Area 18: West (Safe)
Area 18 West Camp is good if you love high ground and like to glide everywhere, and just like Flowering Rocks Camp in the South, it gives good access to Central area of Scarlet Forest

Area 17: Great Lake Shore near Uth Duna Arena (Insecure)
This area is the furthest from both Base Camp and Wud Wud Village, I recommend to set up camp here for Fast Travel point and will come in handy for Uth Duna Hunt if you faint multiple times

Oilwell Basin
The last few locales Oilwell Basin, Iceshard Cliffs, don’t benefit as much from strategic camp placement because they have very vertical and compact layouts. This compactness allows players to quickly reach most areas, often by simply gliding down from one layer to another. Nevertheless, some recommended locations still exist.
Area 2: Canyon Divide (Safe)
Canyon Divide will complement Azuz as Top Layer Camp, while Azuz cover East of Oilwell Basin, Canyon Divide the West Area, and very close to Monster Hotspot.

Area 9: Middle Strata South (Insecure)
The only place that covers the Middle layer, good to consider but Insecure.

Area 12: Crimson Rivulet (Safe)
Quick access to Fishing Spot, and it’s close near monster Hotspot, so if you happen to fight close by and fainted, Crimson Rivulet got your back.

Area 14: Mining Cave (Safe)
This spot very close to Nitroshroom Hotspot which you can gather once in a while for your crafting needs

Area 13: Limestone Cavern (Safe)
A Safe Area with 4 Mining Outcrops nearby, but i prefer Area 15 Lower Strate North even if it’s dangerous.

Area 15: Lower Strate North (Dangerous)
It is dangerous but it’s a pretty good spot to cover grounds. And there’’s a lot of Devil’s Blight nearby with some Might Seed.

Iceshard Cliffs
Area 1: Icy Shore (Safe)
Placed between two pathways. It covers the bottom layer of the map.

Area 15: Upper Corridor (Safe)
Not really a good spot especially because you need to climb a spiral staircase, but Iceshard Cliffs is pretty compact, so why not, just get all the Safe Camp.

Area 19: Floating Rock Wall (Safe)
Personal favorite Pop-Up Camp Spot, because it’s safe and very close to some monster nest so you can get back to killing as soon as possible. Other than that you can also glide from here.

Area 20: Ancient Room (Safe)
Right in the middle of the map. You will naturally get this spot because Story progression brings you here and have no need to move it. It have Quick Fishing Spot Access, 1 Mining Outcrop, 3 Special Item Gathering Spot, Very close to Sleep Herb and Adamant Seed.

With the right Pop-Up Camp spots, players can concentrate on hunting monsters rather than worrying about camp destruction or making long treks after being carted. These recommended locations provide both secure havens for restocking and tactical positions to quickly return to the hunt.
By following this guide, you’ll streamline your Monster Hunter Wilds experience and spend more time doing what matters most—taking down challenging creatures.
Happy hunting!
