Apart from Arknights characters in iconic armor, the adorable Felynes will also be hopping into the game as the Terra Research Commission in the Monster Hunter crossover event.
The Felyne trio Terra Research Commission will be coming to Arknights as a free welfare Operator obtainable through the Monster Hunter collaboration event, A Flurry to the Flame.
Felynes are an iconic bipedal cat race in the world of Monster Hunter, often seen fighting alongside the hunters as Palicoes.
As part of the crossover collaboration between Arknights and Monster Hunter, three adorable and curious Felynes will be joining Rhodes Island to study the land of Terra.
During the event, players can obtain the cuddly Felyne trio, Terra Research Commission by clearing stages and completing missions from the Roka Village Quest Board.
Class and Archetype
The Terra Research Commission is a 1★ Flinger Sniper, a unique archetype that serves as a hybrid between an Artilleryman and a Deadeye Sniper, possessing the splash attack of the former and the latter’s range.
Sometimes colloquially known as Aftershock Sniper because their attacks deal in 2 hits with the second being an aftershock that inflicts half the damage. Unlike other Snipers, the Flinger Snipers are not able to target aerial enemies.
Talents
Like most 1★ operators, the Terra Research Commission has no activatable Skills, but has a rather unique Talent named the “Felyne Lottery Bomb“.
Whenever the Terra Research Commission launches a projectile, they will delay the archetype’s innate attack aftershock momentarily and may apply one of the following effects at random:
- Deals Physical damage to enemies equal to a large percentage of the Terra Research Commission’s ATK. However, Felyne Lottery Bomb will be completely disabled if this effect has proc 3 times.
- Puts the target to Sleep for a second
- Stuns enemy hit for 0.1 seconds
- … or nothing happens
As you can see, the Terra Research Commission’s utility depends on RNG, thus it will be very unreliable. Sometimes you might get lucky and see enemies getting micro-stunned consecutively, or occasionally the Terra Research Commission might just contribute nothing to the battle.
Final Thoughts
The adorable Terra Research Commission mostly serves a niche role where they can be deployed for certain situations where luck might permit chains of crowd-controls to be triggered and turn the tide of battle, though it will be very unreliable to do so.
Being a 1★ operator means that they suffer from poor stats and level limitations, though they have a very low deployment cost of 3 and do not count towards the unit limit, allowing them to act as an emergency Sniper. Note that since the trio are not considered Operational Platforms unlike the robots Lancet-2, Castle-3, or Thermal-EX, they will not receive benefits from Chiave’s Technical Expertise.
If you enjoy a little bit of casual RNG gambling, the Terra Research Commission will be a really fun unit to play. They may not be reliable or effective in most scenarios but it’s fine because the Terra Research Commission serves as a fun adorable mascot that commemorates the beautiful collaboration between Arknights and Monster Hunter.
