Dr. Olivia Silence drops into Arknights in a new alternate form of the Paradigmatic in the new Side Story Event, Lone Trail. Silence the Paradigmatic will be the free welfare Operator of the Lone Trail event in Arknights and unlockable through clearing CW-5.
An accomplished Liberi scientist and one of the high-ranking leaders of Rhine Lab, Silence has been acting as Ifrit’s caretaker since joining Rhodes Island. Despite her accomplishments in Rhine Lab, her relationship with the company is a bitter one in reality.
Class & Archetype
Silence the Paradigmatic is a 6★ Operator of the Abjurer Supporter archetype and an alternate variant of the 5★ Medical Medic, Silence.
This particular archetype is similar to the Hexer branch of the Supporter family, but rather than attacking enemies, Abjurer heals friendly Operators equal to 75% of their ATK when their Skills are active instead.
Additionally, this archetype is also known for its ability to augment allies’ defensive capabilities with the Sanctuary buff, reducing any incoming Physical and Arts damage.
Talents
Elite 1 Talent – Silent Sentinel
Her first Talent, Silent Sentinel, is a permanent aura where she applies a 10% Sanctuary buff to all allies within her attack range. The Sanctuary effect will grow as the affected allies’ HP falls and the lower it is, the stronger the effect will become.
The highest possible Sanctuary effect can be achieved is 24%, which can be obtainable when allies’ HP is lower than 30%.
Unlike other Abjurers who only apply Sanctuary to an ally once they hit a specific threshold, Silence got the edge of having the effect be permanent and ramp up as allies’ health reduces.
Elite 2 Talent – Plumes of Plenty
Keeping with the theme of providing survivability, her Elite 2 Talent, Plumes of Plenty will grant allies with less than 50% HP within attack range healing, recovering HP equal to 5% of Silence’s ATK every second. The healing effect is doubled for any Operators from Rhine Lab.
The currently available Rhine Lab operators in the game who can be affected by the double healing are as follows:
- 6★ – Dorothy, Ifrit, Magallan, Muelsyse, Saria,
- 5★ – Astgenne, Mayer, Ptilopsis, Silence
A powerful Talent that complements well with Silent Sentinel‘s Sanctuary effect, granting allies with a good amount of survivability.
Skills
The Paradigmatic’s Skill generally interacts with her Talents, allowing her to more effectively amplify the Sanctuary effect of Silent Sentinel. All Skill values will be the maximum possible numbers of maxed Level 7 and Mastery 3.
Skill 1 – GO-GETTER
The first Skill, GO-GETTER, is a straightforward ability that grants Silence an 80% ATK buff at Level 7 Mastery 3, enhancing her healing in the process.
Generally, you would much better off utilizing her other Skills as they would offer a lot more utilities.
Skill 2 – Overlooking Vision
Meanwhile, her Skill 2, Overlooking Vision, buffs up Silence’s ASPD and enables her to be able to deploy a Support Drone during the active duration. While deployed, friendly Operators within the Drone’s range will gain the effect of Silent Sentinel with 3 times the effectiveness.
Once the Skill duration ends or Silence retreats from the battlefield, the Support Drone self-destructs.
This Skill can be worth utilizing as the boosted Sanctuary effect can be quite useful in a clutch, keeping allies alive in tough situations while having a short cycle to keep redeploying them.
Skill 3 – Dreadnought Protocol
Her Skill 3, Dreadnought Protocol, is an interesting ability as it does more than provide Silence with a 30% increased ATK and a 1.8 times better Silent Sentinel effect.
During the active duration, Silence can also prevent an ally’s death, negating lethal damage and keeping them with only 1 HP remaining for 10 seconds. This Skill can be deactivated at the player’s discretion but note it can only be used two times in a stage.
This ability essentially grants an ally invulnerability for a short while and can be used during clutch situations to prevent casualties.
Final Thoughts
The latest Abjurer Supporter in Arknights, Silence the Paradigmatic is a decent Operator with abilities that can ensure her team’s survivability but the solutions she brings along do not necessarily justify the sacrifice in the limited squad slot.
Silence Alter isn’t a bad unit as her invulnerability can potentially open up new strategies by pitting a powerful DPS like Surtr or Nearl the Radiant Knight against tough enemies while letting them unleash all their damage before falling in battle.
However, in most cases, you might be better off utilizing other strategies as a good plan with regular Medics and Defenders can still do the job well without such a roundabout way of providing survivability.
All in all, it is not advisable to invest in Silence the Paradigmatic unless you have a plan in mind, and building up any other defensive units like Medics would generally provide better returns as they are likely applicable in most situations.
