Take-Two Interactive has reaffirmed that Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 remains scheduled for release in Fall 2025, according to statements made during the company’s Q3 financial year 2025 earnings presentation.
The highly anticipated title heads a significant lineup of releases planned by Take-Two, with the publisher describing 2025 as an “inflection point” for the company. The release schedule includes several major titles, including Civilization VII launching February 11, Mafia: The Old Country in Summer, and Borderlands 4 later in the year.
The impact of GTA 6’s release appears to be influencing the broader gaming industry’s release calendar. According to Bloomberg, other publishers are reportedly hesitant to commit to specific release dates for Fall 2025, waiting to see if GTA 6 maintains its current schedule or faces delays into 2026. This cautious approach stems from publishers’ desire to avoid competing directly with what is expected to be one of gaming’s biggest launches.

Take-Two itself is carefully managing its release schedule to prevent internal competition. CEO Strauss Zelnick addressed this strategy in an interview with Variety, stating, “I think it’s safe to say that we wouldn’t, and no one would, stack up huge releases unnecessarily.” This suggests that Borderlands 4, while planned for 2025, will likely be positioned away from GTA 6’s launch window.
While specific release dates for both GTA 6 and Borderlands 4 remain unannounced, Take-Two’s confirmation of the Fall 2025 window provides the clearest timeline yet for one of gaming’s most anticipated releases.
