After the reveal trailer of Rockstar Game’s highly anticipated GTA 6, Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5) has seen a significant increase in its concurrent players.
According to SteamDB, GTA 5 saw an increase of over 90K concurrent players, totaling to over 262K players on 10th December 2023, just five days after the trailer.
The month of December also sees an another impressive milestone for GTA 5, with the game reaching a total of over 298K concurrent players on 16th December 2023, marking the second highest amount of total concurrent players since the game’s official release for PC back in April 2015, which had an all-time peak of over 364K players.
This significant increase in player count was mainly contributed by a few factors, one of which was just the general hype from the reveal trailer of GTA 6, considering the trailer itself managed to break 3 different Guinness World Records.
Another factor that contributed to this milestone was the massive Nopixel 4.0 update on 15th December 2023, with Nopixel being one GTA 5’s biggest role-playing server.
Coming with the Nopixel server update was also the GTA RP Week, where Rockstar Games teamed up with streaming platform Twitch in hosting the biggest Twitch subscription giveaway, gifting more than 600K subs in the GTA 5 category, and highlighting GTA RP streamers from around the world on showcasing them on the front page.
Suffice to say, Grand Theft Auto 5 still remains to be Rockstar Games’ titular title, and fans are highly anticipating the upcoming installment of the open world crime-series that is set to launch sometime in 2025.
