Once more, due to coronavirus concerns, GSCinemas will be closing and the Digimon movie, Digimon Last Evolution Kizuna, and the My Hero Academia movie, My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising, will be postponed. Via Facebook post from ODEX Malaysia & Brunei, the relevant cinemas will be closed from 18 March to 31 March 2020. The next release date will be announced once relevant authorities have provided further notice.
The full notice is provided as follows:
Following the announcement by the Prime Minister at 10PM on 16 March 2020, we will be temporarily closing our cinemas and suspending all screenings and events from 18-31 March 2020. This is in line with precautionary measures by the Malaysian government to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus and safeguard the health of our communities.
We regret any inconvenience caused by the closure of our cinemas. Customers who have tickets for screenings will be refunded for their purchases. Purchases made online will be automatically refunded within 14 working days, while movie-goers who have bought their tickets via the Box Office or e-Ticketing kiosks can hold on to their tickets for a refund after the end of the lockdown.
As this is a rapidly evolving situation, Golden Screen Cinemas is monitoring the situation closely. Updates on our cinema operations and any additional information will be communicated via social media and our website in the coming weeks. Please stay tuned to our channels on Facebook and Twitter to get the latest news. Your health and safety remains our top priority during this time, and we thank you for your support and patience as we work together to stem the spread of COVID-19.
It’s unfortunate that GSCinemas would have to close, as anime fans would surely have been looking forward to the Digimon and My Hero Academia movies. Nevertheless, let’s stay put and hope for the situation to be resolved as smoothly as possible.
