TAITO has announced a fresh entry in their rhythm game series with Groove Coaster: Future Performers, coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch as a digital release in Japan in 2025. This latest installment represents a complete overhaul of the Groove Coaster formula, rebuilding the experience from scratch. The game introduces significant changes across all aspects, including controls, music scoring systems, and world-building elements.
Future Performers aims to accommodate players of varying skill levels by offering two distinct playstyles: “Basic” and “Advanced.” The game also features a new horizontal full-screen display format, designed to create an immersive, music video-like experience through enhanced visual expressions that complement the gameplay.

The game’s soundtrack promises a diverse collection of music, spanning J-POP, Virtual YouTuber performances, Vocaloid tracks, and Touhou Project arrangements, among other popular selections.

In a first for the series, Future Performers will include a Story Mode, featuring voice talent such as Reiji Kawashima, Ayane Sakura, Shirakami Fubuki, and Sakura Miko, with additional characters yet to be revealed. No information regarding a Western release has been announced at this time. This reimagining of the Groove Coaster series appears to be TAITO’s most ambitious entry yet, combining accessible gameplay options with enhanced visual presentation and narrative elements. The addition of Story Mode, in particular, marks a significant evolution for a series traditionally focused purely on rhythm gameplay.
