Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising has introduced a new feature, Partners, to allow you to better bond with your favorite characters.
In a Tweet today they announced that the Partners system in Granblue Fantasy Versus would allow you to receive messages from characters to give encouragement after fights.
“I LOST AGAIN?! BUT I WAS BETTER—GRAH!!11!! Sound familiar? Partners are here to help ease your battle tension! Your favorite characters from GBVSR will cheer, support, and advise you through your most glorious of W’s and most bitter of L’s!”, the official account says.
It’s still unclear the specifics of how the system would work- presumably the characters would be from the playable roster, with advice not unlike that doled out at the end of Guilty Gear Strives matches.
Considering the strength of character appeal when it comes to gacha games like Granblue Fantasy, it makes sense that they’d add another layer of it with this feature.
It’s far from the only new feature for Rising shown off at Anime Expo, however- the panel also announced that they would be removing several features from the base Granblue Fantasy Versus, such as Rush, Backshift and Overdrive.
“Rush, Backshift, and Overdrive won’t be returning in Rising. Though we haven’t changed our philosophy of creating the definitive introduction to fighting games, we’ve revamped gameplay and created all new systems to explore”, the official account says. “In a previous teaser we showcased an action that looked like Rush, but that was actually part of a prototype system. It was omitted during development and later reborn into Raging Chain—sorry for any confusion!”
They also announced the next new character coming to the game, Nier.
