Granblue Fantasy Versus coming soon to PS4

Granblue Fantasy Versus is coming soon to the PS4, according to Cygames. The upcoming fighting game will mark the first time the Granblue Fantasy franchise enters the genre.

As mentioned above, Granblue Fantasy Versus is based off the original Granblue Fantasy for the smartphone. Cygames announced that Arc System Works handles the development of the game. The studio is most well-known for their work in both Guilty Gear and Blazblue franchises. As expected from the studio, the upcoming fighting game will carry a similar feel to both franchises.

According to director Tetsuya Fukuhara, the game focuses on making it interesting for beginners of the fighting game genre. Unlike some fighting games, Granblue Fantasy Versus will not focus on combos. Instead, players can unleash special moves with 1 button. It carries similarities to the less technical control option of Blazblue. However, skilled players are not ignored as the game will feature a strategic depth as well.

At the moment, developers have only revealed five characters for the game: Gran, Katalina, Charlotta, Lancelot and Ferry. Each character has their own unique moveset and includes moves from the other hand. More characters will be announced in the future.

Furthermore, the game will also focus on the story mode. According to the director, the game will feature an original story. Players who have not played the original do not need to know the original story. On the other hand, veterans of the franchise can enjoy a new story of the franchise.

At the moment, Cygames has not announce an exact release date. However, the game is slated for a 2019 release. Similar with Granblue Fantasy: Relink, Cygames may bring the game to the PC through Steam.
