As players trek through the icy tundra of God of War Ragnarok, they’ve discovered an odd conversation between Kratos and Mimir that seems to recall the events of the Super Smash Bros style crossover game PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale.
In the dialogue, Mimir says that he heard Kratos once to part in a tournament where he “did battle with Beasts, scoundrels, princesses, the undead, automatons and… history’s greatest musician.”
The conversation can be seen from the Twitter user, @TheCardinalArts who posted a clip with the conversation to their account:

These labels generally lineup with the cast of PlayStation All-Stars:
- Beasts: Toro, Ratchet
- Scoundrels: Sweet Tooth, Nathan Drake, Evil Cole
- Princesses: Fat Princess
- Undead: Sir Daniel
- Automatons: Raiden, Big Daddy
- History’s Greatest Musician: Parappa The Rapper
Some users have also suggested that this could be a reference to Mortal Kombat (2011) where Kratos appeared as a guest character. According to users, the musicians here would be Rain, the purple ninja prince whose name, color palette, and status are a reference to the singer Prince.
I personally think that it’s more likely God of War is referencing PlayStation All-Stars due to several factors:
- Parappa The Rapper IS History’s Greatest Musician
- Just because Rain is named after a musician doesn’t mean he himself is one
- It just kinda makes more sense for a PlayStation IP to reference another PlayStation IP. Occam’s Razor and all that.
That being said, Kratos does start this dialogue by saying he’s fought in many contests so perhaps it’s a reference to both of them. It could be a reference to Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny for all we know since Kratos was a guest fighter in that game as well.
God of War Ragnarok is available for PS4, and PS5.
