Assault Lily Last Bullet is the mobile game branch of the Assault Lily multimedia project, and it’s finally launched 20 January 2021 in Japan. With Bushiroad‘s involvement, it’s entirely likely the game will someday make it over internationally. Enough about that though, let’s see what the game has to offer.
PRESENTATION
The UI is pretty clean and easy to read, some even with English labels so that you roughly know what menu you’re entering, yay! The main story has Live2D models, and is also fully voiced! That doesn’t seem to apply to the events, which may be disappointing. Handily enough, if there’s any story moment you want to screenshot, just tap the SNS button and you can share it instantly. The gacha animations are alright, with the arrival of a 5-star signalled with the Neunwelt Tactic from the school / Legion the girl is a part of.
The models in battle aren’t too bad either. I wouldn’t say the visuals or music are especially astounding, but they work well enough for what it is. Your homescreen will have an animated visual of one of your characters who won’t speak, but you can swap it to their Live2D model who will say things when you tap on them.
During the initial download, I got to watch half of the first episode of the anime, so I wonder if you can watch the entire thing if your internet is slow enough…
GAMEPLAY
You choose from the three available Legions at the start of the game, then start off with your first rigged roll. You will have a primary Lily, and she will be supported by three… Support Lily, ostensibly the same characters but with different outfits. Naturally, all of them will come with their skills and elements of which there are three – Water, Fire and Wind – with their advantages and weaknesses. If you don’t want to think so hard, just hit the auto button and go on ahead.
The skills your main Lily will use in combat are determined by the Memoria you have equipped, which will also have their MP cost. From what I can tell, 200 MP is good enough for most if not all of your attacks. You also have the Rare skills you can utilize in combat. I’m not too clear on what changes its effect, plus I’m also just a mindless auto player anyway dur hur.
Both a Lily and Memoria can be Limit Broken up to 4 times, with each copy unlocking additional stats. You have limited Memoria slots to begin with, which also have their costs. You’ll want to raise your player level to gradually unlock more Memoria slots, in turn getting more stats. Get ready for that grind, everybody, for:
- Lily Points to level up your Lily units
- Evolving Memoria
- A crafting system for Charms, etc.
There’s quite a bit to do, with the Daily stages to help you through for the good ol’ materials.
In regards to the gacha, the Memoria with dresses unlock other Lily units, while there are also 5-star Memoria only. The base rate of 5-stars 3% which is average, and we should be able to expect a double rate up limited period at some point in the future.
VERDICT?
Ultimately, I feel it all depends on how invested you are in the characters. I haven’t seen the anime so I don’t know much about the primary cast. The girls are cute, there’s plenty of things to do for those who like to manage their teams, but that’s pretty much par for the course.
Time will tell if the franchise stands well on its own. There’s no harm in checking it out, especially with some celebratory launch free gacha, so see if you like it and maybe ask for a global release.
