Local store Gilagaming has said they’re not a scam, after becoming today’s hot button topic following accusations over their PS5 Pre Orders.
UPDATE: both Gilagaming and their supplier Setsuna Shoppe are filing police reports against each other accusing the other of running a scam.
The site is one of many retailers offering pre orders for the still-elusive console- with many netizens signing up hoping to get a console from them. The store has seemed reputable enough, with celebrities like badminton player Lee Zi Jia getting his console from them.
However, rumors began to circulate that Gilagaming was a scam, prompting many customers into a panic.
It was made even worse by the announcement that Gilagaming would be closing their store for the next 10 days prompted many into a panic, thinking their latest PS5 pre orders were a scam.
According to the management of Gilagaming, they’d been unable to fulfill preorders because of a problem with their suppliers, with refunds ready for aggrieved customers.
“I would like to reply that the supplier have been unable to deliver the goods that promised, (sic) and this made owner unable to deliver the goods to you on time”, they said in a lengthy response via their Instagram account.
They also commented on the possibility of refunds for customers, though they said it would hinge on their ability to get their money back from the supplier.
“Owner would like to state that owner will arrange a refund when the supplier agrees to send the money”, they said.
They also addressed accusations that they’d closed their Facebook account to run off with the money- according to them, the page was mass-reported and now they have no means of accessing the page.
Naturally, taking preorders for an in-demand item then becoming hard to contact is quite suspicious, and many netizens have taken to accusing the store of running off with their money.
PS5 Malaysia Gang on Facebook has compiled a list of aggreived parties, with a total of over RM800,000 allegedly made off with.
We’ve reached out to Gilagaming for comment, and will update it after their response.
