Ghost of Tsushima Legends will be getting a standalone release for PS4 and PS5 on September 3rd with a new mode called ‘Rivals’.
PlayStation state that this standalone Ghost of Tsushima Legends will be available for no additional charge to those that already earn any version of Ghost of Tsushima. It will also be cross-compatible between the PS4 and PS5 versions.
The new Rivals mode will see two teams compete to defeat waves of enemies. With each foe you cut down, you’ll receive a magatama that can be used to damage the other team. For example, you can curse the other team with poison or block their purchases. Once you’ve spent enough magatama, you’ll be able to acquire Final Stand Waves which you’ll need to complete before the other team to achieve victory.
Sucker Punch will also be releasing a new gear mastery system alongside rivals. This further expands the progress system and rewards for legends. If a player has earned 110 level gear, they will be able to bind it to a class and activate “Mastery Challenges”. The allows a piece of your equipment ki to be upgraded to level 120 and unlock a second perk slot. When you activate master challenges you’ll unlock new techniques and abilities for each class.
There will also be an update for Legends released on August 20th which will see new balances patches to the game based on community feedback.
Ghosts of Tsushima was a phenomenal new IP for Playstation when it was released last year. Ghost of Tsushima Legends is a multiplayer mode added to the game with a greater focus on Japanese mythology.
A director’s cut of the game with new content will be releasing on PS5 on August 20th, the same day the balancing patch. You can pre-order to game on the Playstation Store Website.
