Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut has been announced as the first anniversary of the original game approaches. Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will be available on both PS4 and PS5 on 20 August, coming with the original game, any additional content released to date, new features and a new adventure for Jin. The full details are available through the Playstation Blog.
Iki Island becomes open for a new chapter in Jin’s story. He is there to investigate rumours of a Mongol presence, but soon gets caught up in events with deeply personal stakes that will force him to relive some traumatic moments from his past. More details will be shared soon, but you can expect a new story, characters, environments, armour for both Jin and horse, mini-games, techniques, enemy types and of course, animals to pet. Associated trophies will also be available.
The PS5 will get exclusive features. Thanks to the console’s ability to render cinematics in real time, cutscenes on Iki Island will have lip sync for Japanese voice over. The base game, Legends and the Iki Island expansion will also have haptic feedback and adaptive triggers with the Director’s Cut. Additionally, there will be 3D audio, drastically improved load times, 4K resolution and framerates targeting 60 FPS.
You’ll be able to transfer your save file to the PS5 version and pick up where you left off. Newer players will be able to access Iki Island at the start of Act 2, upon arrival at the Toyotama region.
Director’s Cut aside, Ghost of Tsushima will have an update patch with new photo mode updates, accessibility options for controller remapping and enable target lock-on during combat. Legends likewise will have updates and a new mode with details to come.
